Update: Well as of today June 30, 2021 our next box is no more. It fell out of the tree because the bottom rotted out. We purchased this on Oct 18th 2020. So all I can say is that it isn’t built to last long term or endure the weather in MO. It’s best for indoors. It served us well for our original purpose but I’m going to have to down grade our review. Original review: We purchased this nest box so we could start transitioning our orphaned baby squirrel to be outside. I stuffed it with leaves and alpaca fleece and we attached it to the outside of our big bird cage. He could get in and out and have room to run around and eat from the inside of the cage. This was only to get him ready to be an outside boy. Each day we took him out to our big oak tree. Each evening we brought him in to his cage. He would eat and then disappear into his nesting box. After three weeks of this routine, my husband nailed the nesting box up in our oak tree. He soon realized it was his nest and took it over from all the other squirrels in the tree. Worth every penny. It's sturdy and has served it's purpose. Look closely the third picture. He's sitting in the seed box eating.
