Yes EZ to assemble. follow directions to put the proper leg in the proper place or the rubber foot won't line up for stability. and Yes very sturdy. my husband is 245# and sits to wash his hair while the jets massage his back.. I use it to sit and shave my legs. I weigh 130.

Can this seat low enough in the tub that I can have the water cover most of me like I would be sitting in the tub?
