Hunting trip to Montana
My hunting buddy has an older model, so I had to buy one for the extra storage for a long hunting trip to Montana (we are from Minnesota). The cooler worked great, was quiet, and the adapter for AC power was very handy for overnight in the hotel room. We left one cooler plugged in all the time at the hotel, used the small refrigerator in the room, and used the other cooler in the truck for our portable fridge in the field. One important note - make yourself a note to make sure it's unplugged when the vehicle is not running as the amp draw is pretty high and will drain your battery. Fortunately it will keep things cold for a while even when not plugged in. On the trip out, things that were frozen when we left were still frozen when we arrived in Montana, 14 hours later. Great product and the size is perfect for the back seat in the truck!

Coleman 40 Qt. - Excellent!
The unit does an excellent job keeping things cold and provides plenty of space. When empty it is light weight. The shelf can be used to keep contents away fron the cooling fan when the unit is oriented as a cooler (I.e. horizontal rather than vertical). One has to be careful that the plug is oriented to provide cooling or heating (red to red or blue to blue).I am concerned about the grips. They are thin and may crack or break when the unit is loaded say with a case of cold ones. A good quality set of grips or better yet a sturdy handle would be an improvement.

12 v Plug problem
Had this for a week and had the plug break while pulling it out of socket. Now this wasn't because of an abuse in pulling it out, it was the end of the plug itself that broke off. Knowing about electric wiring I was able to buy at pep boys a new plug a little lower rated but will do till I can find a site to get the exact plug from. Otherwise it works fine but needs to be plugged in constantly to maintain cooling.

Saved a lot of time and money
I bought this for a cross country trip and it worked great. We used it in the car and also the adapter for the hotel room. It saved a lot of travel time with quick access to food and beverages as well as eating in fewer restaurants. This comes in a cool version and a warm/cool option. We bought the one that will do both. We only used the cool version. My wife is looking forward to using it when we are bringing food to family gatherings.

Dosnt chill anything.
Doesn't chill or even maintain anything cold. If I didn't leave it sitting in my garage for so long before using it. I would get my money back.

electric cooler sucks
Most of the time Im a happy man, put not this time. I got this unit through Amazon . com I feel like I got riped off...The so called electric cooler never got cold or even cool.. Did you ever have to buy ice every day to keep your meat cold. Well thats what I had to do for 10 (TEN) days. Ice was $3.00 a bag.two (2) twice a day. My sons electric cooler same brand worked great..Mine was a flop and a waste of money. I'm not a happy camper over this...

Let's see how it cools...and heats it up!
This study was done over an hour and a half and had the fridge totally empty. It is using the AC adapter, which might alter the cooling, but I wasn't willing to risk draining my car battery to test this with the car plugin. The baseline had both the thermometor as well as the fridge at 66F. Again, since my fridge is totally empty, it's the worst case scenario in terms of cooling power.0 minutes: 66F15 minutes: 66F30 minutes: 60F45 minutes: 58F60 minutes: 52F75 minutes: 50F90 minutes: 49F I can't stress enough that this test was done with an empty fridge and also on AC power (and as you probably know, an empty fridge sucks for keeping the temp). Also, the instructions even do say that this is not supposed to be used to cool items from room temp to food safe levels. I then decided to heat things up and switched it to the hot setting. My first run through was a bust since the thermometor I used only went to 90 degrees, so I now am using my digital oven thermometer (bought from Amazon btw). Again, the box is totally empty. This time, I won't have to open to check the temperature since the probe is centered in the refrigerator/hot box so I can read it each time without opening it like with my cooling study.0 minutes: 64F15 minutes: 82F30 minutes: 97F45 minutes: 104F60 minutes: 109F75 minutes: 113F90 minutes: 115F

plug broke-1st thing
The first time I plugged in the cord and unplugged it, the plastic tip broke off. I replaced the tip for $5 on my own, rather than returning it. Another review said the same thing. Otherwise it works great if the car is running. Here's some math to consider before camping with this:- it uses 4amps- a deep cycle marine battery is usually around 40 AmpHours if you get a cheap one- 40 AmpHours gets you 10 hours at 4 amps, or 10 hours of refrigeration for this unit- if you run it off your car battery for more than an hour with the engine off, you will probably need to jumpstart your carOther than that, I love it. I use it in my office with the AC adapter when not camping or picniking. While camping, I put frozen hotdogs in there along with other refrigerated foods, and after 8hrs the hot dogs were still partially frozen.
