DCS OVEN IGNITER 211541 211541P Replacement Igniter by Robert-Shaw

WORKS GREAT WITH DCS RDV2305L
Our igniter on our DCS range died and I needed a replacement. Having seen it done by an appliance repair technician on a prior stove and then forking over $400 for the job, I knew this was something I could tackle myself the next time it was needed. This product DOES NOT have the same factory connector as the OEM, so you will have to cut the wires and reattach. I soldered the wires and used shrink tubing for a very secure connection but probably isn't necessary. Not knowing the polarity of the igniter (or if it even mattered), I used the wire position from the OEM unit and guessed that the polarity was the same as my replacement igniter and made sure I soldered the top wire to the same lead that fed the OEM top wire and the same for the bottom. Also, the ceramic body of this igniter is larger than the OEM, and the bracket that comes with this product doesn't line up with the mounting holes on the oven, so you will have to bend the factory bracket to release the factory igniter, and then slide the new replacement igniter into the factory bracket. Again, not difficult, but somewhat tedious. The igniter coils themselves are INCREDIBLY BRITTLE so go very slow and be very cautious when doing this step as a small bump will cause the coil to fall right off the body. I know this because I destroyed the OEM unit getting it out. So go slow.I saw there were some other reviews that mentioned that the resistance may be different on this unit than OEM so I monitored my oven very closely for about a week every time we used it. It has been working like a champ! Resistance can be affected by a bad connection or miswiring so not knowing if those reviewers were competent or had made errors I decided to roll the dice as the OEM igniters for these ranges are currently unavailable on backorder.I cannot speak to compatibility on other DCS or Fisher and Paykel ovens but I can verify that this product works perfectly on the RDV2305L. With a little digging on the web you can probably verify that your range has the same igniter as my oven and feel a little better about gambling on this product. If this one bites the dust in another few years I would absolutely buy this exact same unit again.Good luck!

Exact part for DCS oven
Exactly the same as the part I replaced in my DCS oven.Comes with ceramic wire nuts (although the old ones should work fine unless they're cracked).

Worked for my DCS RGS-305 (AT FIRST, THEN QUIT WORKING)
Update: Worked at first but now my oven broiler won't ignite again after just two days. There was an insert with the ignitor warning that it was only for certain valves and I had no clue what kind of vale was in my oven. I can't recommend this for at least the RGS-305 that I have. Probably better off getting authentic replacement part although much more expensive.I had to take the igniter out of the casing and install in original casing for it to fit and also a bit difficult cutting the old wire and splicing but so far it seems to work fine.
