Interesting
I have several different translations of this text since Chinese-to-English can be a challenge of different meanings using the same words. I find this to be a great resource combined with other translations for insights.

Amazon reviewers you owe me $14
Don't buy this book unless you have a grudge against the money in your wallet. The translation is often bizarre and ungrammatical:"Confucius said of the head of the Chi family, who had eight rows of pantomimes in his area, 'If he can bear to do this, what may he not bear to do?'" Eight rows of pantomimes in his area...?"Among us here there are those who may be styled upright in their conduct. If their father have a stolen sheep, they will bear witness to the fact."The book itself looks as though it were literally assembled at a copy shop. It is a print-on-demand job it looks like, and I'm assuming a self-pub - there's no frontmatter, but there is a date of manufacture on the back of April 2013, when I ordered it. No page numbers, a random comic book trim size... I've seen student self-publishing projects that looked better than this. Much better.I have no idea what the story is with this "book", or why anyone on here reviewed it positively-- clearly no actual publishers thought it was worth printing. In any case it's y'all's fault I bought this roll of TP, which has a resale value of nil, so I figure you owe me the full cost. Mail me a check.

Not what I expected
This actual paper copy was published in 2013 according to amazon, but many of the most helpful reviews are from 2001 or 2004.This actual copy as shown in the picture contains no footnotes or introduction as stated by other reviews. The book doesn't even have a publisher name or anything. As for the message of the book, it is very hard to understand the actual meaning, but if you can get past the bumbling English and translation (which is hard), there are good messages there.

A great mind that needs more appreciation in our culture.

This book is not Waley's translation
Not only does this book not contain Waley's notes, it isn't even his translation. Compare this to the 1989 Vintage Books version, which is a well-known version of Waley's translation--they are completely different translations. Additionally, the book is print on demand--I was not expecting that. There isn't even a publisher listed on the work.

Okay this was just too much detail for me.

Very insightful
It did not come with page numbers, which was slightly annoying. The rest of it was good though. I recommend it

Beautiful work, horrible binding
The texts of Confucius looks as though they were printed off of a home printer, and bound to a poorly designed cover, and a comicsans styled back.
