Another gadget that I just love!
As I shuffle into the kitchen in my slippers and bathrobe early in the morning, groggy and functioning on two brain cells pre-coffee, I want things to be easy and simple. This gadget, really a sophisticated tool, helps achieve my goal of making two double ristretto cappuccinos simple. Puck prep is ridiculously easy. Always level. Always tamped to 30 pounds. Always a satisfying snap/thump when proper tamp pressure achieved. This gadget is another one of life's little pleasures.P.S.: Try this. Throw on a puck scree then tamp to get better results.

The only self-leveling tamper I've found that fits the LSM Levers ACS Vostok/Evo Leva
This tamper doesn't have the heft and finish quality I associate with the Bravo levelers and tampers (they are pricier too), but this is only self-leveling tamper that I've found that fits La San Marco 55 mm baskets used on the ACS Vostok (inside diameter of these baskets are 54.5mm). This tamper clicks at calibrated levels that can be adjusted. The only disquieting aspect of this tamper is that it clicks, imparting a short impulse tamp; that is, instead of increasing spring resistance that one finds on several other calibrated tampers. This impulse dislodges any loose grounds that may be between the leveler and the tamper head, or along the edges of the filter basket. This tamper was game-changing when introduced in 2017. If you're not using a self-leveling tamper, this one will improve shot consistency significantly. For LSM group lever machines make sure that you order the 54.01mm tamper, not the Breville compatible size (53.5).

At that price?! Still awesome!!
A tamp is a tamp. Too expensive, but… worth it? Best out there!! If it’s in your budget, get it!!

Some important info could be provided!
Just received the tamper. Seems to work well with the slightly oversized VST basket I use in my portafilter. I wish they would provide two important pieces of information. First and while they explain how to change the poundage, they don't clearly indicate which way to increase or decrease with the ring. Secondly, it would be nice if they told you what poundage it is set at the factory! I learned from surfing the net that it comes set at 22 lbs and you turn ring rt to increase or left to decrease. The factory could indicate/confirm these two important questions on the instructions! After using the tamper for several day, I can say that it is a winner! I am able to dial in my drinks far better than before and the distributer part works great. This tamper ends up replacing my expensive Pullman tamper and equally expensive distributer but that is OK!

Excellent product, unreliable shipping
Products from Kuguo are shipped from China. Me being in the US, I had to wait over 2 months with no shipping updates. I ended up cancelling the order and buying from esspressoparts.com where it came to me in a few days (they didn't have the black plastic handle though, I had to buy a wooden one). For our church coffeeshop, the team wanted to buy a puqpress that sits under the mahlkonig e80sgbw grinder ($1300). But before they had the funds to do so, I bought this instead (insert evil laugh here). Jk, I was thinking I would keep it for myself if they didn't like it, which was a risk I was willing to take. The church coffeeshop team ended up liking the tamper, I didn't buy one for my home set-up because its too expensive. Anyway, once you get the motions right and NOT forget to hold the leveling plate down firmly (unlike some of our baristas) the tamps are as fast, level, and consistent. We opted out of buying the $1300 puqpress (for now). The only thing that we do have to do is clean out the grinds that get stuck in between the tamping and leveling plates every 5 tamps or so.pros:-fast-level-consistent-adjustable forcecons:-grinds get stuck between tamping and leveling platesI'd say this product is good for any coffeeshop. The baristas in general are worse than monkeys at playing cymbals when it comes to tamping. I live in the second most coffeeshop populated city in US (Portland OR) and there are only 3 coffee shops that I know of that make OK coffee (out of over 2500 in the entire city). They are all skilled at puck preparation. If you're curious what those coffeeshops are: dweller, the great north, and compass coffee
