Get "Taken" on a "Non-Stop" Ride!
Liam Neison has become a big time action star....but his role in the film is always the same...the Irishman living and working in some law enforcement related occupation in the United States...or for the United States as a naturalized citizen; or the Irish-American working in some law enforcement related occupation in the United States ..or for the United States. Or Western nation espionage agent. Or an international hit man gone good. You get the gist. This time he's an Irish American Air Marshall on a trans-Atlantic flight being hijacked, of sorts, for ransome. By someone else ON THE PLANE. Sorta predictable in all ways, including the required explosive depressurization and emergency landing, and so on. Now, don't get me wrong, the movie is fast paced and enjoyable if you like action movies. Like Bruce makes, and Arnold is returning to. And Sylvester and these two guys and some other pals are making...Liam will no doubtedly be in one of these ensemble casts sooner than later! This film does keep you interested.....if boredom or predictability gets in the way, there's Julianne Moore to focus on...as well as a lot of other characters as suspects and potential heroes! There's the mandatory aerial intercept of the hijacked plane by fighter planes that may be tasked to shoot it down if necessary....well, not to give away secrets, but they are....AND this time, being that the airliner is flying into British airspace, the fighters are RAF "Typhoons", the name given to the EuroFighter aircraft. That's different...and accurate! If any of this appeals to you, go on and get the DVD. You won't be sorry and Amazon will deliver it in fine fashion!

A good edge of your seat thriller...
I remember my British step father used to call movies like this a bit 'Hammy' (as in being so fantastical that they were a joke). But if you can suspend your disbelief... this movie serves it up!!!I have not had time to think it through enough to call out the major holes, but with a first blush and a good suspension of disbelief, this movie takes you on a solid ride of suspense, action and 'who-dunnit' type scenarios. It is always a tough call with the whole violence at 35,000 feet because not many people go through stuff like this and live to tell the tale.Liam Neeson puts in his usual action character sketch (think 'Taken' but as a sky martial) but it works in this role. Burned out alcoholic air martial in a twisted plot of terrorism for money works to either put up a master mind front in a plan to rip off the airline OR stop an insidious plot to frame him and make off with the loot. You can figure it out for yourself... but this was not the type of movie that leaves you many hints AND... they put you on the wrong scent several times.Rated PG-13 for violence (lots of arm bending and body throws and punches) and some blood with a few death scenes, as well as alcohol use and some drug scenes/references. I doubt any Liam liker will be disappointed.Pop some corn and enjoy the show... If you are skeptical... it is at least worth the rental once that option is available.

Fantastic Movie
Thrills by the minute well I guess you would have to come to a conclusion on this one as Liam on the plane, The plane is up in the sky and a killer is going to kill some one every so often unless he is given $150 million. Now this is high rise tension thriller were some one might pull the wrong plug, there is nothing that will help them up there. So a stupid man in this plane thinks he is going to win forget it, we are the goodies and him well, is going to be left out on the wing. Storyline is great and with a magnificent cast how can anyone not like this movie. To make it worse he is telling the security on board the plane what their intentions are. Now the person, no-one knows who they are, which means a man or woman is a suspect so now it narrows it down to a couple of hundred. I'll leave it at that as to much chatter will spoil the show. I rated this an A grade plus as for the marvellous ideas that come to head in this fast action paced with things flying everywhere, well now is the time to gather up your popcorn and movie retire to your favourite chair and relax putting your feet up and let all the others in the movie do all the work and to keep you amused for a while, fabulous entertainment with a great cast what more do you want. Enjoy!

Liam Picks Great Scripts
I'm becoming more and more a Liam Neeson movie fan. So far I think, In addition to his every day believable guy with a vocal fry voice, he just picks really great scripts. Yes they have great action, but that doesn't save a plot. This was a great movie.

Non-Stop really tries to Be
I confess: I not only have "guilty secrets" but I also have Guilty Pleasures - and this is one of them. I don't know why, but if it has an airplane and it's passengers in distress - I'm There!! (see "The HIgh and the Mighty", ANY of the "Airport" series, yes even the really rotten ones, etc.) This is better than most. The plot makes a disaster-movie-kind-of-sense, the characters are well drawn and mostly interesting, the suspense is good and the special effects are quite good. Gaping plot points? Well, of course. More than two "Now wait just a minute. . . " moments? Yeah. But remember - it's an airplane. It's in danger. It's got passengers, including a child travelling alone, so what's not to like? Spoiler Alert: She's the only one you don't eventually suspect of being the baddie. McGuffens abound but I really like the actors: Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery, last year's Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, and a personal fav of mine Corey Stoll finally getting to strut his stuff in a majorly way. (see this tv season's The Strain) Don't question yourself - if you're a fan of "disaster movies" - go for it. Just keep it to yourself, like I do.

Krav Maga in the toilet!
Hi, after Liam Neeson and his fists made their appearance in Taken in 2008, a movie which cut a swathe through the theatrical box office, suddenly Liam Neeson physically assaulting people became the order of the day. Several movies were commissioned with this star and 2014’s Non-Stop is another example of placing a relatable everyman in an extraordinary situation to see how he fares with the audience living vicariously through him. As Bill Marks, Neeson is an experienced though mildly alcoholic air marshal co-opted into doing the bidding of a mysterious fellow passenger during a transatlantic flight. Receiving threats that non-cooperation will bring the death of other passengers, Bill Marks scurries about the cabin attempting to find out who is responsible for the threatening texts whilst failing to convince the startled fellow flyers of his plight. The cast includes Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery, Linus Roache and Lupita N’Yong’o amongst a detailed ensemble that all triumph into keeping the audience guessing until the very last minute, who is responsible and whom can be trusted! The acting is first rate, the subtle visual effects are very sharp and the director (Jaume Collet-Serra) keeps matters ticking along at a fair old pace. Though the main protagonist having a drink problem is slightly cliched, this remains one of my favourite Liam Neeson performances. Even having watched it twice already, therefore being aware of the denouement, this movie remains endlessly rewatchable. Great entertainment!

Non-Stop may not be as relentless as its title suggests, but it is undeniably entertaining.
Non-Stop may not be as relentless as its title suggests, but it is undeniably entertaining. I despise the title of this film. Automatically brings out connotations of blandness and genericness, kind of like a Straight-To-DVD low budget action film starring Bruce Willis or Nicholas Cage. However, the Neeson and Collet-Serra combination is a winning formula as this is yet another fun ride. A damaged Air Marshal is trapped in a murderous mystery where he must transfer $150 million to a bank account. If he doesn't, a passenger will meet their demise every 20 minutes until he does so. All of this happens on board a long plane journey. It works, it works so well. Very reminiscent to 'Flightplan', but far more focussed on the characters. Like with any mystery, the list of suspects need to be developed to a point where the final reveal shocks you. Given the small runtime, I believe the character developments were adequate. Their backstories and motives are naturally revealed. It's not a case of our protagonist interviewing each one in turn, he instead provokes them and addresses the passengers as one entity. Sure there are times where he questions individuals, which is necessary to identify possible suspects, but that cannot be avoided. I appreciate the small details in these characters. Moore's vulnerability is shown as she explains why she sits on the window seat, our Air Marshal's troubled past is revealed which questions the authenticity of his actions. It's very twisty, full of turns and a meticulously thought out narrative. The final reveal and motives are slightly blurred and unmemorable, although I was still on the edge of my seat...even after my fifth viewing! The claustrophobic environment adds to the suspense and tension. Liam Neeson still thrives on his rejuvenated action career. I did roll my eyes at the end where he was saving the little girl, makes his character arc far too predictable. Non-Stop is not going to fly away as a classic thriller, but it lands with such confidence that it's hard not to enjoy this.

No Stop tension
Liam Neeson plays an ex alcoholic, Bill Marks, now an Air Marshall on a non stop flight to the USA. He seems lucky enough to be travelling Business class and ends up sitting next to Julianne Moore who starts to chat him up.Bill Marks gets a text on his phone to say that the sender will kill one person on the plane every twenty minutes unless the airline transfers $150 million into an off-shore account. Upon investigation the account is in Mark’s name and then they look into his dodgy history and put two and two together to make six and think it is Marks holding the airline to ransom. Meanwhile Marks has to try and stop the real killer and blackmailer from killing people on the plane with no help from outside.~~~~~~ MY VIEWS ~~~~~~The plot is quite good and although an unlikely scenario it had us gripped from early on in the film. The acting of Neeson and Julianne Moore as well as others I thought was pretty good and believable. It is tense and there are several false culprits like any detective mystery has although I did find it frustrating at times with some of the suspects as I had my suspect from quite early one and was correct. The plane inside looked pretty authentic and I would imagine they might have used a real plane on the ground of course for the filming but I might be wrong I suppose. The setting is pretty much the plane and nowhere else. I have since discovered that in fact the plane was a set and it was built very slightly larger than a standard commercial airliner to allow for Neeson's 6'4" height for filming. The music score by John Ottman really added to the tension. It was orchestral and the sort that makes background to a film rather than being really memorable tunes. It went well with the film’s action and tension and helped to build the atmosphere.Things like the fact that there was much talk about not being able to throw the bomb out of the plane because the pressure would make it explode and then a bit later gun shots were fired and this caused the cabin to become depressurised at 28,000 feet, so why did the bomb not explode then?“Non-Stop” didn’t win any prizes as it is not really that original nor did it do anything very deep or different from the run of the mill escapist thriller mystery. It was easy watching and a fun film that did keep us hooked till the end despite having flaws. It was far from perfect but a bit like an Agatha Christie detective mystery novel it had all the elements of an action adventure mystery film and was well acted and even though there were times when you had to suspend belief , as my husband says “It’s a movie ….” We did enjoy 106 minutes of tense watching and neither of us suggested switching it off as we have dome with some recently. It was rather like reading a holiday type beach read book, it required little brain power and kept us entertained for the entire film.

Fine Mystery, Action Air Planer.
Sold and delivered by Amazon UK; undamaged, new & shrink-wrapped. A sub-£2.00 Amazon bargain! (I bought this for the Mrs, as our old Spanish languages dvd version also has English language, but without English subtitles - and the on-screen mobile phone text messages sent to Neeson, by the baddie, were also in Spanish!) Another winner from Liam Neeson, with his "Unknown", "Run All Night", "The Commuter" director Jaume Collette Serra; with a good supporting cast, and cinematography. An implausible, but well placed, enjoyable thriller, which just survives an unsurvivable ending! Took nearly $US230 million dollars, plus DVD/Blu Ray sales, but an non-airborne sequel is yet to happen. Recommended... in original English language, with English subtitles!

NON-STOP TENSION!
This 106 min REGION B/2 DVD is excellent. It appears to have everything, a good story, good acting, shoot outs, punch-ups, dedication, deception, suspense, an unknown caller, no bad language or nudity. When I read that the DVD was 95% filmed on board a plane it did not appeal to me but I changed my mind when I saw the film rating by the public, I was very pleased I did as Liam Neeson was excellent and the film was beyond expectations.
