The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn: Norman Rockwell Collector's Edition (Abbeville Illustrated Classics)

I bought this as a birthday gift for my lovely partner. The quality design and book texture and covers are superb. They take pride of place on her favourites bookshelf.

Read them as a minor , but to read again as an adult made me laugh and they will remain a source of pleasure

Good quality paper ,beautifully illustrated a super gift .Two great stories of my childhood.

These books are controversial. A subject of periodic book banning efforts and frequent public scorn, the author and his best known works are avoided by parents and derided by culture politicos for his use of "the vernacular," especially the frequency of the notorious "n word." The controversy has been raging since it's publication. But I bought this edition for my grandson in the hope that the stories will spark his imagination and ignite his curiosity as they did for me when my father read the story to me over 60 years ago. The slip case and gorgeous illustrations are very nice too.

If you just want to read Mark Twain’s classic stories, cheaper copies are of course available. But I paid the higher price for these gorgeous books because I cherish the stories and wanted a fine copy. Books that are beautifully designed and crafted and are reasonably priced are not easy to come by. Folio editions for example cost well over a hundred dollars. These are excellent books at a fantastic price. And who doesn’t love Norman Rockwell?

La edición en sí es de buena calidad y las ilustraciones de Norman Rockwell, aunque no vibrantes, ensalzan el libro para los lectores más jóvenes. Por desgracia mi edición es bicéfala: en vez de Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer y Las aventuras de Huckleberry Finn, el cofre contiene dos copias idénticas de Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer. Como estuve de vacaciones, no me he dado cuenta del defecto hasta ahora, así que ya es tarde para reclamar. Aparte el producto llegó con un golpe bastante fuerte en una esquina, que llegó a mellar no solo la caja sino uno de los libros. Una pena.
