A Fan Of Carhartt But These Socks Disapoint.
Chances are if you're reading this review you're a bit finicky when it comes to socks. Generally I really like Carhartt and find their clothing to be well made and an excellent value. These socks were a disapointment on many levels. First and foremest they're surprisingly thin - as in paper thin. Compared to Champion Sport socks which usually sell at places like Marshalls for around $9 for a six pack these are I would venture to say 30% thinner. The lycra and spandex blend does little to help keep them up after the first wash. I found the gray "thicker" areas on the heel and toe to add some extra cushioning and the sewing - especially in the toe area makes for a more comfortable fit. But again, after one wash these benefits vanish. At this price you would expect these to surpass most anything you can grab off a shelf or out of a bin from most any big box store. However not the case here. You're paying almost twice the price for less quality and for that matter less socks! If you're looking for thick, well made absorbant cotton sox, I suggest taking a pass on these and keep hunting.

Very thin!
I've had these for a couple of months now, so I've tried them across the seasons. The sock are generally as advertised, including the seam being where Carhartt says it should be, however, the problem is that these socks are very thin, thinner than a budget pair of sweat socks meaning you feel the impact of every step while walking in boots and work work shoes. Also fabric around your ankles and above (i.e., the neck of the socks) are even thinner, almost like business socks, which do very little to keep you warm, absorb sweat or cushion your feet on boots on even around the house. I would strongly recommend against these socks in general, if you need thin socks then I would suggest buying a cheaper pair at your local shop. I'm sorry to say these are just not worth the money. One more very important thing, I found myself walking in light snow for a couple of hours wearing Caterpillar boots. Understanding these socks were not the best I wore two pairs to keep warm, it was dry and wasn't fiercely cold (perhaps -1 or -2 Celsius) but after a short time my feet were freezing, I mean painfully biting cold. I wore the same set up with a pair of Adidas sweat socks the year before and I wasn't even cold. These socks will not insulate against the cold at all. If you need socks for anywhere cold do not buy these, it will be an extremely painful experience, trust me! Ironically they don't 'breathe' either, so it will be hot in summer! Really, it's loose-loose

Misleading Materials Label
The materials percentages of the socks listed on the site states 38% polyester. I went to a local farm store and noticed what was apparently the same sock from Carhartt with both 31% and another with 17% polyester with the same SKU numbers. As polyester is what gives the material its resiliency, its abrasion resistance and is the highest price of the materials listed, it was the main ingredient I was after. I was hoping by ordering a supposedly 38% polyester sock, that I would be getting perhaps the last of the some of the best socks out there for the price. Instead, I got a 31% polyester sock - and at a higher price than I could have gotten it at the farm store. I am not impressed. If Carhartt is going to cheapen up it's socks, at least they could have the decency to advertise properly what they are selling.

NICE! Great quality, made in the USA!
I've been looking for another source for my socks since the quality of "Gold Toe" has declined appreciably, and these fit the bill nicely. However, the stated cotton content is incorrectly listed. It is actually 75% cotton, not 58%. This is important to me since too much synthetic material in the sock makes my feet really HOT! With a greater cotton content they stay much cooler and more comfortable. So far they are very nice. I bought a 3 pack at a local store a few months ago to try them out. I liked them so well that I ordered 2 more three packs from Amazon. I think they are well worth the money and you'll like them too.

I don't like these, but my son does!
I've been wearing black Champion brand socks & I wanted to try something in a different color... The pros: + Good reviews. + Free shipping. + Good quality socks that some may like. The cons: - On the expensive side for 3 pairs. - Very thin material! My feet are cold now as I'm typing this review. :( - The fit around the toes is odd... feels way too loose to me. Update: ▪ My son likes these socks, so I've upped the rating. He doesn't think they're too thin & he likes the looseness around the toes.

Don't hold up well to steel toed boots
These were ordered because I wear steel-toed boots for work. I have worn them maybe 10 times. They now have a hole in the toe just like the cheap socks I usually get. They are also very hot when the temp outside is above 75 degrees. The socks are thick and more comfortable, but they were purchased for durability. Not worth the cost.

Junk Junk! Shame On Carhartt!
Shame On Carhartt! These socks are not worthy of the Carhartt Name. These socks are thin & cheap. I wore a hole in the big toe in less than 4 hours. Junk Junk Junk!!!!!!!!!

Nothing to write home about.
Nothing special about these. If you line dry your clothes, these feel pretty rough after washing, so they'll feel like cheap socks soon enough. They're medium weight, not much cushion, a little loose fitting (bunching up in your boots). Oh, and I saw these at Sears for around 8 bucks, Amazon has their price way off...
