Perfection
Just what I needed. The reason I got this is because I have studio monitors from Mackie and this is the perfect sub. The studio monitors are fine, I just needed more bass and this subwoofer does just that. I have a small room and I can't even crank it up too much because it shakes my whole house. If you're like me and have an USB interface, I suggest using the interface trs cables to give the sub input and use the red and white L/R for output to connect to the speakers. If you don't have an interface, I think it's easier to setup because you don't have so many knobs to turn. They give you a 3.5mm jack to plug into your PC, then you can give signal to sub.Currently, my actual speakers are set at about 50-60% volume, the USB interface is my main driver knob and the CRDV from the mackie sub is maxed out(both sub and volume) so I only focus on the usb interface knob, if that makes sense. You'll have to play around to find the right balance where you can hear the sound smoothly. I've also messed around with the crossover and for my room and speakers specifically I find that at 120Hz is better. If your speakers already have lots of bass, you can try 80Hz crossover or even lower.Took me less than 30min to setup and test it.Recommend this product!

Great features, may be a little over priced per the equipment it comes with.
For the price, it should have come with the 5mm jacks instead of wimpy RCAs. I'm on the fence with the volume remote too, as it comes with the 5mm jack and cranks the volume quite well, but balancing the crossover and the individual subwoofer volume leaves a lot to be deisired. You can turn the subwoofer volume dial quite far without noticing much bass control independant of overall volume. In all honesty, it seems that the volume on the monitor affects the richness of bass and sharpness of trebble better than the desk dial connected to the subwoofer. (I got the 8" monitors btw, not sure how the smaller ones work with this setup) These are big, sturdy units too. A little heavy, which means they stay where you put them but experimenting with location can be annoying.Essentially, one must set monitor volume first, then set desk dial volume, then mess with crossover, then be sure the woofer is placed correctly. Rinse and repeat. The individulal output dials on the back of the woofer seem to do nothing, but if they did that would be 2 more dials to mess with anyway.Once I got the right upper limit I desired, I basically left the volume controls alone and instead set master volume through my other equipment, and that seems to work best. For an 8" woofer it handles crisp kicks and rolling bass just fine for a home studio. Some limitation could be due to the RCAs since I haven't found my 5mm jacks, and that's why I feel this product is a bit over priced without the stronger connection cords coming with it.Compared to other woofers and PC speakers, this product holds it own and is near the top of the list with sound quality (no clipping, garble, or rattling) and does provide plenty of combinations for setup that satisfies the wiring nerd inside me.

Great addition to my studio monitors
I had the Mackie CR3-X BT monitors then saw this sub could be added on. Once connected this sub blew me away with its power an it let my monitors focus on the mid's and high's. It really helped the monitors not sound so muddy they sounded so much better with the sub taking the low end.

Volume/Gain Dependent Sub
Let me explain. The CRDV desktop remote is really nice but is a bit intermittent when it comes to audio;it sometimes sounds like a compressor is on so you have to adjust it just right. Also, the sub volume on the CRDV is dependant on the non-sub gain. In other words, if you crank the gain into the sub and only try to turn up the sub volume, you won't hear the sub until the top volume adjustment is turned up first. So it's it's a dependent dial. Not a huge problem, but something you should know. Once I figured that out, and once I got my gain structure correct for my whole system, I have really enjoyed this product since.

Sub did not work
Spent hours trying to get it to work. Premium balanced cables, common grounding, bluetooth, hardwired, etc. Almost zero sound came out of the sub. Only when everything was maxxed would I get some sound. Certainly no thump. None. Adjusting the knob on the back of the sub did nothing. When connected with most recent version of bluetooth, there would be a lag on video. When hard wired, there would be static noise. No static noise when only using my CR-X 5s. Returned the sub for Amazon refund.

Everybody needs a sub!!!
Compared to all the more expensive subs the look made me wary of purchasing so I went to YouTube and watched a few reviews, compared it to presonus sub which was initially the one I was after but in the comparisons the CR8S-XBT was a solid choice...also the fact I have MR5s it just made sense. The first day I hooked them up I got a little static so I checked my cables, leveled my volume on the monitors and the sub and now I have just enough sub to mix it in perfectly!! If you're on a budget especially in these times go with this sub. you will not be disappointed! UPDATE... I should've mentioned the knob pops and clicks in the speakers so I have to turn it back and forth until the pooping stops.

Versatile. Fully capable.
I would have gave this speaker 10 stars if I could. I purchased a more expensive 8” studio monitor sub, and I returned it in 3 hours because I was adjusting bass by hand at the back of the sub. This guy has a cable remote. Perfect for desk top. (The remote) This sub will roll your room in good bass even at high levels. (I don’t turn any equipment beyond 75%,) but it ROCKS! Perfect with my existing monitors. Depending on how long it lasts, (I’m going on 3 months and at frequent high levels) the Bluetooth function is also killer convenient , if it lasts, Mackie Nailed it and knocked it out of the park. Hats off to Mackie! (please send free gear for mentioning your brand!!)
