Basic but really, really sweet
Classmates v1 is one of those really simple ultra-basic level romance manga that just stays true to itself and doesn’t set out to do anything more than it intends. The story is so very sweet, touching, and just funny in its application that it ends up being amazing just because it does everything so well. No deep character introspection moments, ho homophobia subplots, no sexual harassment of any kind, and nothing more than a few kisses, it just stays wonderful all throughout. One might even say there was no drama, but there was with the typical “you didn’t tell me where you were going after graduating” and the jealously thing. So overall I loved this story, it was touching, funny, and made me smile so so so much.

a very familiar plot but a delicate, nuanced story
The story follows a very familiar plot (classmates A and B are quite unlike, but find they like each other quite a lot). However, in the hands of a talented mangaka like Nakamura, the result distinguishes itself a delicate, nuanced way. I enjoyed the simple but effective ways both boys are characterized to make them seem more like people than characters. While the romance itself doesn't necessarily progress slowly, the physical affection and emotionally intimacy does. Overall, it's a sweet story that manages to not be saccharine.I would like to note, however, that most prominent character outside the leads is a teacher who is attracted to one of the leads (a student) and pursues him to an extent. He has his own POV story line over the course of the series, so if being expected to relate with/sympathize with such a character is abhorrent to you, it's best to give this story a pass.

Great book
I purchased it after watching the movie and was exited for when it arrived.I loved the book but I was surprised to see that it was quite small especially when compared to the regular sized ones from publishers such as shonen jump.In Overall although the art style was a bit iffy the story was amazing.

Beautiful Story
I would give it 4 stars for certain grammatical changes and transliterations, especially with how Sajou's name is spelled but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I can look past these changes and just enjoy the story one more time in my native language.I've been following Nakamura's stories for some time now and Doukyuusei (Classmates) is by far the greatest one, in my opinion, that she has produced. It's wholesome, it's sweet and it breaks the barriers of stereotyped love. Sure, it has it's tropes. but would it really be a manga if it didn't?I would feel like I'm robbing the overall story a perfect score if I gave it only 4 stars. English or Japanese, the story is conveyed vividly and perfectly. I purchased one for myself and one for my best friend. I can't wait until the other releases!

Highly recommend!
BL/Yaoi manga has come a long way in the past few years and Doukyuusei is a great representation of this. Doukyuusei (Classmates) is a simple love story of two teenagers, and speaks to the struggles of first love and navigating through teen life. Its a sweet story and although it's labeled as 'Yaoi' here on Amazon, there is no sexual content only a few kiss scenes. If you've seen the anime version of this story it almost exactly follows the same timeline and plot, except the manga goes into a bit more detail on certain things. Also one of my favorite aspects of the movie was the dreamy, simple animation and the manga has that same 'feel' to it. Honestly if you're a fan of BL, or even just a fan of slice-of-life, I would highly recommend to pick this up.

Compelling Art and Story
The art is unique and the way they lay out the story drives this pretty hard. This was a very cute, touch all the bases, love story between two interesting and believable characters. It feels pretty complete with the three volumes so do read them all!

5 out of 5
As soon as I saw that they had translated this into English "officially" (I've read it online previously) I didn't even think about it, I bought/pre-ordered all three at once. This is such a wonderful, sweet story with such marvelous characters. Definitely absolutely forever worth a read.
