This is a very sturdy rain chain formed in a similar fashion to a steel chain with interlocking links. I live in Michigan so strong and light is important if you want to leave it up in the winter. I had decorative chains that looked nice but fell apart with ice buildup. Rain chains work best with a funnel so if you are replacing a downspout then install a rain chain funnel sealed to the top of the downspout takeoff. You can also drill a round hole in the gutter and seal the funnel in with silicone. My only disappointment is that Amazon only sells 8.5 foot lengths so I had to buy two for my 12 foot high gutters.

These add a nice look out of the house and work just like you think they would when it rains. Does not collect water. And can be used in any direction in my opinion.

Used to have the copper cups on a chain but they couldn't handle high volumes of water. This chain works perfectly with very little splash, water streams down like a rope.

These look great and were easy to attach to our gutter system. It would be nice to have longer lengths available. We ordered an extra to add to take apart and add length to the others as we have a very high porch roof line.

I just got this installed yesterday and it rained overnight. Worked perfectly.

This rain chain is GREAT!! the rain flows perfectly down and doesn't splash.

I have a porch that, when it rains, gets drenched from the sides (it has a roof), so I decided to install gutters and this slender rain chain, not really wanting it to be big and obvious. But with the first rain the chain got quickly overwhelmed by the stream of water and it just splashed all over, defeating the purpose. Probably fine for minor rain flow, but for diverting any real rain away from a structure--not sure this fits the bill.
