Light weight/Small
The media could not be loaded. I owned the N700, talk about amazing sound and killer bass coming from a lap desk. The N550 is good for on the go. It is light weight and small. Maybe for a 13-14” or I will use it for writing my notes on. I’d like to see N700 back but with bluetooth. Overall Great product for the price. And the sound is actually pretty good, especially if I had not already hear the N700. Coming soon from eBay! Literally ONLY 1!!

Lightweight, High Quality Speaker--Lapdesk
My son and I both own Toshiba netbooks that are 10.1 inches. The ONLY drawback to that particular netbook is the speaker quality. For some reason, only Toshiba knows, they decided to place the speakers on the BOTTOM of said laptop/netbook, whatever one calls it. So, I bought a speaker, for myself, that is of the USB variety, and is just one unit. It kind of resembles the shape of E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, LOL. Well, my little speaker is fabulous, (I also got it here so you can read that review if you are bored, or if you need a speaker of high quality), and it turned out that we ended up sharing that one. Since his little Toshiba is his main computer and mine is not, I loaned him the speaker most of the time. Well, his 16th birthday was on Thanksgiving so, my Perpetual fiance put me in charge of finding him a gift that he'd really love. I had never even heard of a speaker lapdesk until I began to peruse this site. I read all of the very helpful reviews and ended up getting him this one. He is absolutely thrilled with it but I'm not so tickled because the speakers are so loud that I must now utilize ear plugs when he is listening to music in his room on his computer! Anyhow, all kidding aside, he had some issues at first only with the sound quality on Skype, as he said everyone sounded high pitched. This was NOT the case with the music at any time. I told him that I had read something in one of the reviews about this and to check the directions. By the time I returned to check the progress, he told me that he had solved the issue. Not sure how he did this but, I did hear him on Skype later and he was not using his earplugs. All is well and my Perpetual is the hero of the day for getting him this, even though I did the leg work, or more like the finger work with typing and searching. I was really blown away with the sound that comes out of this desk and so was he. Not to mention, the whole deal is very lightweight, much more so than the adjustable laptop holder he was using before. I am not so certain that a computer larger than 13 or so would be a good fit for this particular model but, it is my understanding, from reading the plethora of reviews, that there is another model made by the same company. I have to say that I've had good luck all the way round with any, and all, Logitech items. If I hadn't just purchased another computer desk without speakers, I would also get one of these for myself. We both like the idea that the volume can be adjusted right from the desk as well. I've found that most USB speakers do not offer this bonus and one can only control the volume via the computer, itself. Also, the little "stoppers," that prevent the computer from slipping, are great and they fold up/down just in case a person would want to use this to do homework or for some other purpose. I totally, and quite highly, recommend this item. The price just cannot be beat and it's worth every penny spent. I hope this helps some of you to make a decision.Lisa H.

Lapdesk speakers will not work with the laptop it is intended for.
It looks good and is a great laptop rest to help stabilize sitting on the laptop. It is not necessarily plug and play. I got it for my wife's 15 inch Toshiba Satellite laptop and have yet to get it to work. We tried each port, removed and re-installed the sound drivers Still not working. We both are running Win 8.1, factory installed. For kicks, I tried it on my 17 inch HP Envy and, after changing the speakers properties to use the USB speakers as the default, it worked fine on my laptop, which is too large and cover the speakers. The sound is really good for the price (hooked up to my laptop); better than the factory laptop speakers. That proves it is not defective, it just does not work with hers. My wife does like the good points of it so she is going to use it just as a laptop lapdesk without using the speakers. It does angle up the laptop which she likes and it does soften the sound of the laptop speakers too. Great price if the speakers worked on her smaller laptop.

It'll do
I was looking for a laptop solution that did 3 things: 1) make it comfortable on my legs/knees when using it in bed, 2) prevent it from sliding around, and 3) Keep the laptop cool. I wasn't looking for speakers, although it's a nice addition. The padding is slightly disappointing in that it is very thin. There's a hard plastic that creates the round shape of the underside, and a sort of spongey covering. But at the edge (near the knees) it feels almost as hard as the plastic underneath. The size of this thing is just silly. Not many laptops will fit on it properly. It could be meant for portable DVD players I guess. I STRONGLY recommend taking measurements of your laptop before buying this. The back feet on my laptop are just on the back edge so they hold it in place just barely, but it can slide off, and it makes it easier to topple back if the desk is tilted or picked-up. I would love to chop off half an inch from each side to add just 1 inch to the back. I'd increase my rating one star for that one important inch. The material on the bottom is textured, which helps keep it still on your legs. The front flaps prevent the laptop from sliding forward, -BUT- it makes you lose half an inch of vertical space, which for me means the back legs of my laptop fall off the back, and it's not well balanced. If the flaps are left down, there is a slight lip that will should prevent sliding forward, and you can't tell by looking but those dark curves around the speakers are raised rubber, and they help as well. What I have ended up doing is around while sitting in bed, so the thin end is on my knees (they're knobby and stick up, so this levels the surface and takes pressure off of them). This doesn't have a fan on it unfortunately, but the hard surface does keep the laptop cooler than a lap or blankets because there is a little lift from the surface. The speakers are a dramatic improvement from my laptop's speakers, which distorted sound at a certain volume. These have better bass, and can play much louder than a laptop's built-in speakers. The volume Up/Down/Mute buttons affect the Windows 7 control panel the same as the buttons on the laptop itself. It may be important to note that the speakers will drain your battery faster even when not playing music.Overall, I like it better than not having it. I wish I could change some things, but I couldn't find anything that had my exact specifications in other comparably-priced cooling pads. I think I will attempt some low-tech customizing to make it more handy for me.
