This is a very handy tool. One thing to keep in mind you need an Eversharp pencil. The holes are so tiny a regular sharpened pencil won’t fit.

I use this little device in a picture-frame shop to mark the cut lines on the backs of mattes before cutting the mattes with razor blade and straight edge. It saves me time, because I don't have to measure and mark each side with a straight edge and pencil. The little holes are tiny, however. I can only use this device with a mechanical pencil, and the lead breaks easily. I'd prefer to be able to use a regular number 2 pencil. I am grateful to have this, even if it is not the ideal tool for the job.

I theory, this is an inspired measuring tool. But, you need a magnifying glass to read the markings. No problem with the manufacturing, which makes it a bargain compared to the Woodpeckers brand. Still, I don't use it very often.

The measurement scale along the edge is distorted and not accurate. It’s useful to draw a perpendicular line as a square, but has no use to measure along the edge.
