Fabric take-along book
This is a cute, three-dimensional fabric activity book that is lightweight and machine washable. My grandson loved the Melissa & Doug Itsy Bitsy Spider book so much that I ordered this, and it, too, was an instant favorite.

Cute book.
This is a cute soft book. Very basic, designed for for kiddos under 2. Different colors and textures here and there to keep them involved. Its not as interactive as some other Melissa and Doug soft books that I own. I would prefer them over this. There's one with animals+ shapes and another barn one which my toddler loved.

Fun read!
This was a lot of fun to interact with our baby. The pages are colorful and fun and she really loves it. I also really appreciate it being from MElissa and Doug since I know I can rest easy knowing it is very safe.5 stars!

Eh, could have been better
Hmm, well, I usually love Melissa & Doug toys, but this isn’t quite as nice as I expected. When the cat is asked if the bone is his, he says no, he eats fish. And there’s a smiling fish (lightly stuffed to make it kind of crinkly) that lifts up to reveal a fish skeleton with a still smiling, presumably alive head attached. That’s just kind of...gross. I know I’m more sensitive to this kind of thing than most people, so if you’re thinking, “What’s the problem?” then there won’t be one for you (unless your kid is sensitive). I know the bone came from an animal, too, but you’re not lifting a cow to show a cow carcass underneath it. I just wish they’d shown a cat dish with cat food, or something like that. Or used a different animal (maybe a horse eating hay?).And mice aren’t particularly interested in cheese. I mean, they’ll eat it if there’s nothing else around, but that’s such a myth. The concept of the book, animal heads poking through from one page to the next will be kind of fun for babies and toddlers, I would think. The bone fits in a pocket that is the dog’s bowl at the beginning. Children will have fun putting the bone in the bowl and trying to feed it to the other animals in the book, and probably their other stuffed animals, and probably to you, too. And of course what parent isn’t going to say to their baby, “Is it YOUR bone?” while holding it up to him/her.Everything seems securely attached and reasonably well put together. The book comes in a little clear bag with a handle that adds an extra dimension of fun (and a good way to keep the book clean). The dog’s and mouse’s heads (inside the book) have rattles in them, so the whole book rattles as you go through it. There are also stuffed heads of the mouse, dog, and cat on the cover, but they don’t have rattles. It just seems like more items could have been added to do, point out, find, etc. This just doesn’t seem very imaginative.Overall, it’s an okay toy/book.

Cute Soft Cloth Book
Melissa & Doug K’S Kids Whose Bone? - Soft Activity Book Includes Mouse, cat, fish, and dog faces; learn animal sounds and what they like to eat. This is such a cute soft cloth book for newborn babies to about two years of age. My two-month-old granddaughter is starting to enjoy being read to and this is one of the first books I chose. The fabric is soft and the artwork is great. The book is tactile making it a good learning experience as well for babies. Cute little story and I think my granddaughter really enjoyed it. Highly recommend it.

Bright, cheerful book for the senses
This is an adorable soft book with a simple storyline: Who lost their bone? The book and the characters have texture and sound, and the colors are bright, making it an appealing book for the senses. And it's washable! Although my washer is brutal and would probably chew it up. It's definitely a hand wash in my house. It's larger than the photo on this page would indicate, about 6.5 x 7.5. Perfect for little hands. It comes in a velcro closed plastic pouch with a carrying handle. The velcro flap has also been attached via plastic slips like the ones that attach a label to an article of clothing. That might give the recipient a level of comfort that the book has been packaged and not later opened.

A perfect gift to kids below age 2
"Whose Bone?" is a lovely machine washable cloth book that children below age 2 will enjoy looking at, feeling, and listening to. It introduces kids to a mouse, a cat, a dog, and a fish and teaches the kids the sounds each makes. Kids will want to play with it for long periods.
