Kids easily started oedaling
We love this bike! Both of our kids learned to ride a pedal bike with this bike. They also learned how to use the hand brakes. It's light enough to easily carry with one hand.Highly recommend!

Perfect bike..see video and updates
The media could not be loaded. Short Version: Super light weight and so smooth with the Grease-free, maintenance-free belt.Long Version:As beautiful as it is functional, it is a modern marvel of bicycle engineering in a pint-size package. From its hand-brushed and lacquered aluminum frame to its belt drive, it leaves kids begging for more while their parents simply stare in awe. Fully loaded with 16″ air tires on aluminum rims, front and rear V-pull brakes (no coaster brake!) and a remarkable grease-free, maintenance-free belt drive, weighs in at about 13.7 lbs., about 10 lbs. less than most lower-end 16″ bikes. With a minimum seat height of 19″, is the perfect first pedal bike for any balance bike graduate. While the brushed aluminum frame steals the show, the belt drive is the icing on the cake. In addition to being grease and maintenance-free, the belt essentially prevents any snags on clothing and, unlike a chain, will not stretch or easily slip off the gears.Another main draw is the lack of a coaster brake. Required by the CPSC on all bikes with a minimum seat height of less than 16″, coaster brake often cause more harm than good for graduates of balance bikes who are accustom to hand brakes. While learning to pedal, many kids accidentally pedal backwards. On a bike with a coaster brake, pedaling backwards causes the bike to stop abruptly, causes them to lose all their momentum, while a bike without a coaster brake is much more forgiving and keeps moving forward. Instead of a coaster brake, it has two short-reach, front and rear, V-pull brakes. My 4yrs old is riding it an hr daily. I will continue to update this review.Update 5/18/20: I've a chance to compare it to a Woom 3. The gear ratio on the Woom is very low. Kids can't go fast on the Woom. The components on the Woom are much smaller and lower quality, the chain is noisy and always rubbing the guard, the guard is flimsy, thin, moving around as you ride, it's not screwed to the frame, just sitting on the chain. While 2lb lighter is great, until I realize where they cut corners and use cheap parts. All the parts on the Belsize are from brand names; Continental belt, Kenda tires, Tektro brakes. The Flat handlebar on the Belsize is probably too aggressive for kids under 5, it forces the kid to lean forward too much. The good news is that it's a 1" standard size, and you can replace it for around $20. Kids sit a lot more upright on the Woom 3.Update July 2021: It looks like they addressed the biggest flaw. I see that the 2021 version has a Riser Handlebar, much better than the Flat one, but still on the aggressive side, perfect as a mountain bike though. Too bad, my son won't have this new version to test because he is now super happy with a Woom 3. He stopped using the 2020 version since last summer because of the bad Flat handlebar design.

Mountain bike geometry, pint size
Such a good little bike for the price. Compare to a Cleary or Prevelo for less money. And this is a belt drive! I took it in right away to a bike shop to have the cranks taken out so we could start without pedals, my bike shop guys were totally impressed we found this on Amazon for much less than $300. This geometry makes the bike feel smaller than cheap kids bikes, you could probably put your kid on this younger than you expect, and your kid will outgrow it sooner than other bikes of the same size. I suspect the people who complain about the hunch stance are couch potato types, or at least very novice bikers. If you ride bikes, you know straight back posture bikes aren't as easy to control as a regular performance road or mountain bike 🙄. Your kid doesn't "look uncomfortable", they look like they aren't riding a Huffy with twitchy steering and control. After outgrowing his strider, my 5-year-old started on one of those Walmart bikes that was given to us, as soon as we got the Bellsize with real bike stance, he improved right away, wanted to ride around the neighborhood more, and started actually using the bike terrain park. We really like this bike and are sorry that he's outgrown it.

Great little bike, great customer service
We're not a die-hard biking family - we all ride for fun, but at leisurely paces. No mountain biking/road race fanatics here. So I approached the idea of spending over $200 (heck, over $100) on a 16" bike with a whole lot of skepticism...until I borrowed a lightweight, freewheel 12" bike from a friend (who is a mountain biking fanatic) and my 3 year old daughter was riding it completely on her own three 10-minute sessions later. This 16" bike is a great balance of nice hardware and reasonable cost for what you get (the rear freewheel with handbrakes, the frame light enough for a preschooler to pick up). My daughter is now three and a half, and is just now big enough to ride this. She's having a great time with it and likely will for a couple of years. Worth it, and I expect to be able to hand this down once she outgrows it.Assembly was straightforward, although the instructions are pretty thin. I did have to adjust the front brake to allow the wheel to spin freely. No instructions for assembly of the plastic belt (chain) guard, but I figured it out.Update: We've gone on several rides on this now, and her comfort with the bike keeps growing. She can both lift it over a curb and ride it off a curb unassisted, and she's now fast enough that I have to run to keep up with her (plus? Minus? YOU DECIDE!). She's eager to ride her "silver bike" and hops back on after the occasional fall. Great bike.2nd update: We lost one of the nuts and bolts from the front wheel on a ride. Belsize customer service was excellent - they responded promptly, replaced the missing parts for the cost of shipping, and were all around very easy to deal with.
