SketchUp For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))

Very well written, many exercises; clear, concise instructions. excellent illustrations. High quality paper and printing in color. Logical order of topics and instructions. Thorough index. 2nd Edition. 408 pages. Highly recommended. Well worth the money. I have another manual, "Google SketchUp" it is also very good, but SketchUp for Dummies is better. Its the paper and printing and binding that makes the big difference. The "Dummies" version (2nd ed) is eleven years newer and so things that were "layers" when "Google SketchUp-- the Missing Manual" was published in 2009 have become "tags" by 2020 in the SketchUp Pro version. And the "Dummies" version explains why. If choosing between these two SketchUp manuals, regardless of whether you are using the free versions of SketchUp or the licensed Pro version, get "Dummies". It lies fairly flat when opened up. "The Missing Manual" doesn't.

This book is a great resource when you are trying to learn sketch up. It has really helped me learn from scratch!

I got this book to help me learn sketchup. It is a helpful resource especially if you are a more hands on learner and want to look up how to do things.

Granted this is a difficult subject but it still must start at the beginning. I'm still looking for something that'll show me how to make a very basic 3D printable object start to finish. I don't want a Taj Majal, I want an outhouse.

Easy to follow instructions and makes you feel like you learned and accomplished something.

It's for beginners, or pro's. very logical. Read it in order if possible, then use it afterward for reference l. It has an excellent Index so you can find the location of anything and everything in Sketchup. It explains the how things work in simple terms, and why. Sketchup is a fantastic program if you know how to use it. This will start you off with good habits.I love the Kindle edition as I can get bigger type and all the Kindle benefits. I also bought the paperback just for the Index. I have four other Sketchup hardcover books, more expensive books, and I resisted the "Dummies" label, but, ....is the best.

I was hesitant to buy this book and tried to figure out sketch up via video uploads, however reading / working through this book was a game changer! Best purchase I’ve made in recent times. So happy :) highly recommend

It's very helpful for a newcomer like me. However, there are occasional errors in the book which threw me off. Some commands, even followed step by step, do not show up on screen.
