Yes, even though it looks like hard plastic, I think after examining it that it is cast metal maybe aluminum since it is not magnetic? The bolts and pins are some sort of ferrous metal as they are magnetic. It is coated with a smooth black paint or coating that makes it appear nearly like it could be plastic. I have been using it for a front brakes on an Razor Ecosmart Metro scooter- no problem- and it still looks like new after months of use. It is very well built and unless you are planning on using it for some sort of extreme uses, I believe you will be satisfied with these- I am.

These will work with any cable as long as the led is the larger one.

are these adjustible enough to fit the small hands of a 7 years old kid? They shouln't be to far from the handle bars...

There is a lever stop adjusting screw. Screw it in to move the levers closer to the bars. NOTE: Keep in mind - if the levers are closer to the bars, there will be less lever travel - making it more important to be sure your brakes are sufficiently tight.
