Judging by early screen shots, sneak peeks at the game's opening movie, and prerelease demos of the game itself, there will be a lot to talk about when Dino Crisis 2 takes its first public bow. It's also plain to see that while the original PlayStation is heading down the road to extinction, this is one title that shows the machine still has enough bite for most game players. The story won't surprise anyone familiar with the first Dino Crisis. The powerful, enigmatic Third Energy is at the root of a whole bunch of new problems, making it tough for ordinary people (those with no guns) and military people (those with guns that don't work as well as they'd like). Reprising their roles from Dino Crisis, Dylan and Regina are cool and effective. In the most current, playable incarnation of the game, players start out as Dylan right after the opening movie. With a few exceptions (a warehouse, a lab), most of the environments are in the great outdoors. They consist of jungles, fields, and other terrific places to get suddenly jumped by dinosaurs (Capcom likes psychological terror, folks). And when dinos attack, they do so in wonderful ways. Gaggles of raptors spring out of the foliage, immediately snapping and attacking. Unlike in the first game, your character can now use two weapons in conjunction, a nice feature. For instance, one demo had Regina equipped with a large automatic machine gun and a less effective (but more persistent) taser. Use either weapon effectively by aiming and firing, or do a 180-degree spin-and-shoot with the press of a button. Because you can quickly get surrounded by swarms of raptors, this feature is a must. It also lends the game more of an action feel than the previous game. The spin-and-shoot feature, and others like it, makes it easy to spend your allotment of ammo, so use it judiciously. The taser is a welcome backup for various raptors and other pests, but it has no effect on a monster T. rex. For those, you need bullets--bigger and bigger bullets. By killing beasties quickly and efficiently, players are awarded combo points, which can be used for upgrading to bigger and better weapons. Like a bad penny, those pesky T. rex bosses keep cropping up when you're low on ammo, health, or both. Stockpiling ammunition and safeguarding both your weapons for boss confrontations--as well as recognizing and countering the movements of the bosses--are the only ways to make it. Of course, that's like saying that all you need to win the lottery are the right numbers: easier said than done. With new features and gameplay mechanisms, slick graphics, and a quick frame rate, this just might be a sequel that's worth the wait. --Todd Mowatt

Dissatisfied
This game itself doesn't even work correctly. It goes as far as selecting a difficulty off the menu and that's it. Then it freezes and doesn't go anywhere from there. I've tried it on two systems just to make sure and it does the same thing on both. I'm returning it and expecting my money back for it.

The fun Dino crisis lacked all seemed to go to number 2!!!!!!!!
This game...IS SO SICK! Take the bad 4ssery or Resident Evil vs. Jurassic park and make it a playstation game and this is it. Yes it does go off the Survival horror track a bit in favor of action but the game is SOOOOOOOOOO FUN! There's also obvious influence in the future Resident evil 4 to be seen in this release. The whole ammo and weapon purchasing for instance, The 2 weapon attacks as well. But i have to say the coolest aspect to this game is the aquatic segments....SOOOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOOOL! Why hasnt this been remade? Either way you owe it to yourself to check this out.

Good game but not the greatest.
Dino Crisis 2 is one of my most favorite games on playstation because it is full of variety and featured a lot more dinosaurs and weapons then the first Dino Crisis. The most irritating part of the game was the underwater sequence and the final boss battle with gigantosaurus. Another good point is the good replay value and the multiplayer mode.I've completed it three times already after receiving it a day ago. AWESOME GAME WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!

IF you played and liked the first one, get this one also. its still a fun game for the playstation and is much improved in this title. The game arrived as described and was on time. I had no problem with the CD at all, and it was ordered used.

Fun game!
We played this as kids and wanted our son to enjoy it as well. It came packaged well and in excellent condition and worked great. Our son loves this game and it's a great nostalgia buy, we're glad we have this in our collection. <3

Ripped off
Product didnt work in my old playstation. Tried to return and was told it was okay. Sent it off. Then was denied because it missed a small return window even after the seller said they would refund me. So now I am out $65 and the game. Thanks amazon.

where's the storyline ?
This game is high on violence and low on story line especially when you compare it to DC1. If you like mindless bang, bang shot em up games then this is for you. The killing for points was too much and finding the weapons probably would have been better, being it's hard to determine what you really need and what is just waste. There wasn't a bond with any of the characters and I can't believe that Regina who was so pro team on DC1 would just walk away from someone she is on a mission with. The character David was a waste and probably got 5 minutes of screen time. On the up side the mini games where unique and the graphics got better toward the end. It's not a bad game but I don't think I would play it again.
