Works great. Slips off too sometimes. Use extra ascenders.

This works well. The only feature that I miss is that I don't see a way to lock the latch open for easy loading of the rope. This feature exists on some other ascenders that I have. I don't see approvals from CE nor UIAA, but the quality seems to be on part with other equipment that does carry those ratings. These work best when used with a good sturdy pair of work boots.

I like how secure it is to my foot, but it doesn't keep the rope from slipping completely out of the catch area.

There's no way the makers of this ascender EVER tested it. I just spent the last several hours trying to jimmy-rig this thing to keep the straps from falling off. They won't stay on. They'll fall off during your very first climb. You'll get hooked in, start thinking how great they are, and less than 15' later, the straps will loosen from the buckle until they fall off. Read the critical reviews for these things. Too many unassociated people pointing out the exact same fault. Any previous 5 star review did not get the same ascender I got. This isn't some appliance that you get mad at when it breaks. These are people's lives here, and the makers of this product should stand up and recognize their shortcomings, refund everyone their money, and send them the ascender they claimed we'd get when we bought this piece. Not a huge fan of leaving reviews, but I'm just disgusted. The sad part here is all they'd have to do to have a really good ascender is improve the fastening system. I'd pay $10 more for one of those. As it stands, you couldn't pay ME $10 to buy another, (although you could try if you'd like).

EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR BEGINNER OR PROFESSIONAL

Honestly I won't be using it. Quality seems good however I've never used a foot ascender and my foot gets jacked a bit like twisted. This may be with all foot ascenders. The cam lock definitely won't slip pretty sharp grippers. I will use it as a rope lock with a tether and caribenee. Not completely sure dropping the star for what I mentioned is fair if all ascenders would be the same but... If you used others and that's the way they work go a head and make it a 5 star then.
