I recently just bought a bunch of bottles of elderberry syrup from a different brand because we have been knocked down with sickness this Winter. We are trying to build our immune systems and I'm trying to find healthy sufflamina it's to help avoid the flu for my children. Well, I found that I really didn't like the taste of the elderberry syrup. I don't know if the elderberries are very sweet or if the brand I got just over sweetened it but I really couldn't stomach the syrup so I was excited to give this a shot. These capsules are much easier for me to take and to they don't have any aftertaste to them. The kids can have the syrup and I will stick with these.I haven't been using them long term so I don't know how effective they are but I am happy to say that I have not contracted anything else since beginning to take these.The capsules are easy to take and are not too large. Serving size is 2 capsules 1 to 2 times a-day. I do think these are a little pricey so I, personally, only take 2 a day in attempts to conserve them. 2 capsules have 750 mg of elderberry, 100 mg of elderflower and 100 mg of umcklaloaabo. I like the fact that there is elderberry and elderflower in this, giving it a more well rounded supplement with different nutrients. Also, there are no other added ingredients other than the vegetable capsule.Something worth mentioning is that the elderberry is organic but the elderflower is wild harvested. I don't know if this means that the elderflower has been sprayed or not.

I don’t know about that, but I did learn from the encyclopedia that taking too much of elderberry products can cause severe digestive symptoms.Effectiveness of elderberry has not been scientifically proven, but it has a long history of use in herbal medicine. Some doctors say do not take it for more than five days, and it is not recommended for pregnant women. It is said to stimulate the immune system so people with immune conditions should consult their doctor before taking this. Also people with diabetes should approach this carefully because it can lower blood sugar.The encyclopedia states that raw elderberries contain a type of cyanide. Just because something is natural does not make it totally safe. Please research this before using and do not take too much.By the way, the other active ingredient with the strange name is also known as African geranium. I did not see anything alarming about it, but like most plants, it effects are known in herbal medicine but not studied intensely by scientists.
