Fascinating and comprehensive insight into a Great British tradition
I am very proud to have contributed to the crowdfunding campaign for this book because it really is a quality publication that should serve as a 'go to' resource for anyone wanting to know about the history of bandstands in the UK. Paul Rabbitts' passion for his subject is clear to read and his knowledge of what will entertain the reader makes for very interesting insights. Beautifully illustrated and full of fascinating facts and history. Highly recommended for anyone interested in social history and tradition.

Should have been a coffee-table picture book...
This is a well handled topic, but the book itself is too small to be a comfortable read. For a paperback, it's heavy and dense - which means it's going to come apart as a result of its own weight. As a small book, it's difficult to read the print - because it's smaller print --- to fit the smaller size chosen by the powers that be... Not a good form for the function... I'd like this a lot better as a larger book. As it is, I'm worried about damaging it while I'm trying to carry it around/read it. Too bad. It'd be a nice coffee-table book that would be of more use - and last longer. Thanks for playing?
