Indeed, there are excellent books available, some already classic, some more recent. Well ... Philosophical and Mathematical Logic is a very recent book (2018), but with every aspect of a classic. What a wonderful book! Work written with all the necessary rigor, with immense depth, but without giving up clarity and good taste. Philosophy and mathematics go hand in hand with the most diverse themes of logic. An introductory text, but not only that. It goes much further. It's worth diving into the pages of this book, dear reader! Congratulations to Prof. Harrie de Swart and the efficient editors. Review: This is, bar none, the best book on logic I have ever read! - I have read quite a few textbooks on different forms of Logic, and I can say none have been as informative and readable as this textbook. Either a textbook covers logic in such a way that it's ambiguous to intricacies, or there it omits details in some way or another. This textbook, while of course does not cover everything, it is the most explanatory.

Waste of money
I took a logic course as a philosophy undergraduate and loved it. I remember that the textbook we used was really clear and helpful. I bought this book hoping to refresh and expand my knowledge of the subject. I found this book to be unnecessarily tedious and difficult. The author may be a great expert in logic, but he is certainly not a great expert in teaching-- no concept of starting from basics and clearly progressing to more sophisticated treatments. I cannot imagine anyone actually learning anything from this book. But, maybe that is not what it is for (??)
