Clean Eating with a Dirty Mind: Over 150 Paleo-Inspired Recipes for Every Craving Review: HANDS DOWN THE DEFINITIVE PALEO DESSERT COOKBOOK EVERY PALEO BAKER NEEDS!! - Part of the hardest part of transitioning to a Paleo diet is ditching the sugar. And many paleo blogs/books have recipes for treats but they taste very "Paleo". Not any recipe from this book! I bought it on looks and title alone and it is probably one of my best Paleo cookbook purchases EVER! The recipes for cookies, cakes, bars, brownies, cupcakes etc are all easy to follow and pictured beautifully. Plus, they taste like normal food. I have made several recipes out of this book so far, including: better than box brownies, fudgy chocolate cookies, the chiles rellenos casserole, duck fat fries and so on. All of the treats are so good you will not even realize that you are eating clean! Those better than box brownies are seriously the best brownie recipe out there, even better than America's Test Kitchen, and plus you don't feel like crap after you eat them! The only thing I wish is that Vanessa would write a cookbook for more savory recipes, because this book only has a few but all of them are AMAZING!! You need this book if you are going to stick to Paleo. I can't wait to make some of the cookie recipes for Christmas. No one will even know they are Paleo! Review: Amazing book! Highly recommended. - This is an amazing recipe book for clean eating desserts. I love the fact that every recipe had a picture with it do you know what it should look like. The author explains what paleo is, what the different ingredients are (ex. what coconut flour, almond flour, coconut sugar, different types of diary, ect), the different types of kitchen tool, and the terminology of baking. The book actually has a few other recipes besides desserts, but not many, which is fine by me since I expected it to be only deserts. In the back of the book the index actually has pictures of the recipes, which is a great feature. I never look at the index because I really like seeing a picture of the food when trying to decide what to make, but since this book had this feature I will definitely be using the index. Another feature of this book is on each recipe page it has a symbol of whether the recipe is dairy free, nut free, or egg free. Also there is an index in the back of all the recipes that are dairy free, nut free, or egg free, which is great for people who cannot have these items.

Amazing book! Highly recommended.

I'm eating clean with a dirty mind!
I'm not Paleo, but, I do have a wheat allergy, a few autoimmune diseases and a lot of genetic SNPs. I need to keep my diet organic, free of grains and very selective with dairy. When I was raising my family, I didn't worry about what we were eating, as long as it tasted good. Those days are long over but my desire for good food remains. I don't turn to this book for savory recipes; most of what I make I create on my own. Any good cook will do the same. But, baking is different! There is chemistry involved. And, my old recipes simply aren't healthy. Thankfully, I can turn to this book and know that my time, money and efforts will not be wasted. I am very thankful for everything that went into the creation of this book! I can't eat sweets very often, which means I rarely bake anymore. So, when I do, it is still very special, just in a different way. And, I still have that high bar set for myself. I could go on but, hopefully this makes sense and you can relate in some way. I now can, by using these recipes, still take part in real life activities, reputation intact. I made her better than box brownies first. I was skeptical! The photo looks like it's from a mix, but in a good way. Well, this bake from scratch baker was blown away, as mine turned out just like the photo! Absolutely delicious!! Bye-bye dairy, grains, white sugar, canola oil and chemicals! Hello to a wholesome bit of heaven! I've also shared these with co-workers and they love them! I've made the pumpkin bread many times, including tonight. I make a spicier version by tweaking the spices and including mace and allspice. It is so good!! Doubled the recipe. One will be shared at work and the other is for Thanksgiving. It feels really good to bake again, while not as often, and truly enjoy the flavor of such wholesome, scrumptious desserts. Yes, I'm gladly eating clean with a dirty mind! 😉

Not just for Paleo people
Ok, I never take the time to write reviews, but I have to for this book. First of all, I am NOT Paleo, nor do I have any interest in being Paleo. I do, however, feel and look better when I cut out gluten and limit my starch and refined sugar intake. This book is great. The pictures are beautiful, the recipes look amazing. I have only made a few, and everything that I have made so far has been great. This is just my kind of book. I love food and I love to indulge, but know that it is extremely important to put my health front and center. Check, check and check! For those who complained about the use of sweeteners - it's called "Clean Eating with a Dirty Mind"! It is clearly a "healthy indulgences" book, not a breakfast/lunch/dinner cookbook. Although she does include some great savory dishes. 5 stars!

Really missing some treats in your Paleo/Primal life?
You need this book. The first recipe I made was the "Better Than Box Brownies", and everyone (Paleo and non- Paleo folks alike) who tried them loved them. Several people declared them to be the best brownies they'd ever had, and I am inclined to agree. WARNING: Make sure you eat a healthy meal while these are baking so you don't eat them all when they come out of the oven! As soon as they are cold, I cut them into 1" cubes and put them in a container in the freezer. 1 or 2 of the "brownie bites" is a wonderful indulgence, and doesn't de-rail my Paleo plan. I got the e-book, and it was a great value. Lots of clearly-written recipes, many with variations for dairy-free, egg-free, or coconut-free dietary needs. I may purchase the hardback as well.

Purchased as a gift. Though it was supposed to be a new copy (I paid enough for it!) it was scuffed and marked. Very disappointing.

„Clean Eating with a Dirty Mind“ is a nice book. The over 150 (!) versatile recipes immediately stimulate your appetite and are very tasty. You get the complete range of sweets – from cupcakes to cakes to cookies. But look out! Vanessa Barajas‘ liberal use of all kind of sugar is not low carb and not very healthy. The book is more a paleo inspired than a pure paleo book. But it is a good book for special events like birthday parties.

Ottimo libro in lingua originale. Per chi segue una dieta paleo o con varie intolleranze è veramente bello e con delle ricette deliziose.

As an experienced baker that is new to Paleo baking, I was unsure what to expect when I ordered this book. Am I going to have to sacrifice appearance, texture and/or taste to bake with better ingredients? I am not interested in making just 'good' treats, I want to make 'OMG good' treats. As soon as I got this book in my hands, I was impressed. There are heaps of recipes, and not just sweets (though that is the majority). The photographs of every single recipe are gorgeous. The book is well laid out and easy to follow, with lots of tips. Best of all, the two recipes I have tried so far have been completely decadent. I started with a classic - brownies. I have made many variations over the years, but had a favourite coveted recipe that I always came back to (until last week that is). Vanessa's brownies are moist, fudgey and pack a wallop of chocolate. I didn't garnish or ice them at all - they didn't need anything more to make them amazing. I threw away my old brownie recipe and ones I was thinking of trying. I am looking forward to trying just about every recipe in the book!

This book is thicker then I expected. It has a ton of recipes, SO MANY PHOTOS, and even instructional / reference pages at the front and back. Honestly, if every cookbook used this as a formula of how to do it right, that would be amazing. And the recipes all look incredible.
