I'll Lend You My Daddy: A Deployment Book for Kids Ages 4-8

Got a handful of books for deployment. This is by far my favorite. It’s so sweet and tugs the heart strings every time. It is appropriate for any branch, which was a struggle for us. We are a Navy family, so the soldier books don’t work so much!

This is the sweetest book! It helped my 2.5 year old understand the important job of a soldier, shows all the things we do to keep close to daddy while he is away, and then reminds him that daddy will come home! Even encourages him to hug daddy when he gets back after being gone for a long time. It was perfect, and i cried through the entire book! My 2.5 yo sits enraptured with each read and processes every single word. It was exactly what we needed during this time apart! 10/10 would recommend! My son now wants to read it daily. 💛🖤

Great book, made me cry the first time I read it outloud. Connects very well with our family, Daddys a Marine. It goes through the emotions of the whole deployments, the feel of emptiness the first couple nights, the sadness from him missing things like sports or birthdays, but then also shows the exciments from making care packages, making a welcome home banner and then seeing Daddy for the first time. I also work with military children and I already know I will have to bring this book in to read for them

Excellent book for all children and adults. To realize what military families experience while a loved one is serving the country. We should all be thankful for their service as they provide our freedom!

I purchased this for my grandson, who’s dad (my youngest) is a Marine Infantry Officer, and recently deployed. This has become one of his favorite books. He usually gets read 2-3 books a night by his mom and this is always in the mix. It has truly been helpful in him understanding what his dad does and why he has to “go away” for work for long periods of time. It has also helped re-enforce to him that his dad is a real life super hero. Highly recommend for any military families book collection 🇺🇸

Very sweet book, beautiful illustrations, thoughtfully written but it rubs salt in the wounds for my sensitive kiddo missing their dad. My less sensitive kid seems comforted by this book but for those who are sensitive, be warned. I am so sorry to say that since it really is a wonderful book but it hits hard for a family missing their soldier.

This is one of the most beautifulLy written and illustrated children’s books I’ve ever seen. I purchased the book to give to the children of friends who serve and/or travel for their jobs. The author really captures the unspoken of so many children and parents. It’s truly beautiful! If you know anyone who serves, I highly recommend this as a gift.
