You get what you pay for
I ordered this phone because of the price - most voip phones are quite expensive. I read the reviews before purchasing so was not expecting too much from this product.First off, this is a very basic, cheap looking product, but it works fine and does the job for which it was designed and that was to replace the conventional headset. I had some problems with the software setup and had to resort to going to the the suppliers web site to download the latest drivers. It works fine now and I use it when I travel. It is permanently connected to my "road warrior" laptop.Would I recommend it? Maybe - but remember that you get what you pay for.

Two soup cans and string work better.
GARBAGE PRODUCT, installation of software will erase all contacts in SKYPE. The update drivers on the website work like sand in a gasoline tank. I contacted the 24 hour CHAT and they tried to give me answers but they gave me more problems. There is no function for HOME PREMIUM or XP, it did work for VISTA but it erased all contacts. I had to ask SKYPE to fix my contacts twice. If you are willing to waste your good earned money, BACK UP CONTACTS before installation. This is the Third product from Phillips I have bought and two have been broken from the start. SHAME ON PHILLIPS!!!! if you dislike someone...buy this product for them as a gift. As of now I have banned myself from buying anything from PHILLIPS.

Supposed to be new. But got a used device with no stand.
Thought it would be new.....it was used.....that's gross. And no stand as pictured. It works.....but feel like the seller misrepresented the ad.

Works with Linux 2.6 Kernel
A nice little usb phone for those if us who get tired of wearing the headset every once in a while.Though made of light weight plastic, the phone is still solid for the task at hand. If you're on Windows it allows for perfect integration with Skype via the handset controls.Usb cord wraps around the phone for easy storage--this along with a handy carrying case for travel makes it a neat little package at an affordable price. For those using Linux, the handset allows for sound in and out only. No functionality exists for the handset controls. But this is no problem as the ringer can be routed through the computer's sound system and dialing may be done via keyboard or by mouse via on-screen touch keys.Lastly, a phone cradle allows for the permanent attachment of the phone to the computer. No fussing with the sound controls every time Skype is started. Phone also has a look that complements any decor.Highly recommended.

Good and simple
I have been using the Philips VOIP 080 Skype for almost a month now. It has been really reliable and the voice quality is great. Also the phone looks really stylish. No major complains with the phone. One thing That I do not like about the phone is the USB wire. It is a regular flimsy black wire instead of a robust coiled wire.I am operating Windows Vista and had to install the needed software from the Philips website as the instillation CD is not fit for Vista. But the installation went smooth.

Plasticky yet cheap
The phone has the weight and feel of a TV remote from a very cheap TV - and not a flatscreen. It's so insubstantial, I could accidentally sit on the whole unit all day and not notice. It also behaves very strangely, by mysteriously adding and removing numbers when dialing. For example, if I dial 2125551010, it will sometime truncate the number to 15551010. So I have to dial from Skype to be guaranteed I'm not calling some psychopath in another state. And then there's the sound quality. Well, I'm not sure what's changed but the quality I'm getting is lousy. I've tried it on 4 PCs now and there's a torturous machine-like hum the only the callee can hear. I thought nobody wanted to talk to me, and it was apparently due to the incessant and draining hum of the phone rather than me.

On Windows 7 Professional and Skype. Philips VOIP 080 = FAILED!
So I waited 3 years before writing this review, because I really wanted to like this device. It looks sleek and has a wire that is designed to be rolled away and fits comfortably in my hands. However, for 3 years, I've been waiting for it to work properly. The key pad does not work with Skype. Ive been hoping for an update to the driver or something that would make it function 100%. The microphone and the speaker works without issues, but every button on the keypad is ENTIRELY useless. I would had returned it but because I purchased it to take on travel, I exhausted the return period by the time I returned back to the USA from Asia. I'd give it a negative 5 star rating if that option was available. I do not recommend this for Skype users.Used on Windows 7 Professional and Skype.... Philips VOIP 080 = FAILED!3 years late

Two Stars
this phone was not at all what I thought it would be, too cheap to the touch and feel.
