Superb lens at a really good price
Having purchased a Nikon Z8 this year, I needed to replace my wonderful 70-200 lens with a Z model. The older lens worked well enough on the Nikon converter but its extra projection and massive weight was just too much for me to cope with. I am ultra pleased with the new lens and it was definitely worth the money. Its focus is far slicker that the older model and of course it takes advantage of all the facilities afforded by the Z8. In comparative tests, I am amble to get closer to subjects for close up work than with the older model and the depth of field at full aperture is delightfully shallow with a nice bokeh behind the subject. It is still a heavy lens but with less projection the weight is much earlier to cope with (I am unable to walk well so stability with a heavy camera /lens is a big issue for me). The price on Amazon was an amazing discount to the normal main players and delivery was fast with the lens very well packed. I am a very happy purchaser!!

Simply superb optical quality at a price
Over the years the cost of the fast aperture zooms has increased. These generally cover the range 24-70 and 70-200 as the most sort after F2.8 lenses. The Z mount is new and as such expect to pay a premium for glass that will last years as you develop your skills and change your Z mount body. You do get what you pay for with this lens, the quality is simply superb, it is super sharp across the range, and even wide at 24mm. The additional control rings and single function button can all be customised in the camera, further enhancing the usability of the lens. The screen is useful as a quick reference, it also provides accurate focal length display which can be useful for exact shots. It is supplied with a locking, felt lined hood, along with a soft storage cloth bag. Both the hood and lens are Made in Japan, and I would suggest you protect the front element with the best filter you can buy, you can find the Nikon ones for a reasonable cost on Amazon, or look at the Hoya range. Not a lot else to say, its another Nikon classic lens, with superb optical quality, but you do pay a premium.

Best lens out there
Not going to write a review. If you are looking for new Z lens for your Nikon z body then no questions, this is amazing. So much better than the non z and no more having to use ftz adaptor. Fast and pin sharp and resulting prints are night and day I use this and 35mm, gone are those days of using ftz adaptor. Some.mention weight but it's lighter than using previous combo but yet it does have some weight to it which normally a sign of high quality. Only downside is the price

Simply outstanding world class standard zoom
I've been shooting with this lens for a few days now and it's hands down the finest standard zoom I've ever used. If, like I was, you're wondering whether the 24-70/2.8 S 'pro' zoom is worth the extra cost, bulk and weight over the 24-70/4 S 'kit' zoom, the answer in my opinion - unless you absolutely must have the smallest, lightest lens possible - is unquestionably yes. It's tack sharp throughout its aperture and focal length range in a way that the f/4 zoom just cannot match. It's significantly sharper wide open (particularly at the wide end) than the f4 zoom at f/8. Contrast, colour and depth rendition are all equally impressive. Adding to the lens' versatility is a very useful close range focussing capability and a simply gorgeous wide open rendering with some of the smoothest transitions I've ever seen in a zoom lens. I get the impression Nikon is making a statement of intent with this lens. They have my attention. This is simply an outstanding world class lens of exceptional quality. Highly recommended.

Worth every penny!
The zoom range might not match the 14-30 (which I miss after selling mine) but the focus speed, picture quality on the edges and better distortion control makes up for this. I am a little concerned about the front of the lens (too big for a standard protector filter) so I always pack it away with the lens cap on. Simply the best wide angle zoom for Nikon Z.....until they decide to bring out a 17-35 2.8 - that would be the one I'd go for.

Love this lens
This is such an amazing lens. So versatile and amazing picture quality. At a recent wedding I shot this was used for 90% of the pictures. I can't fault it. Amazon were also £200 cheaper than any other price I could find. ( I mean amazon and not 3rd party sellers selling grey imports)

Best Nikon lens produced in years. Very sharp, quick focus, certainly faster than the older f mount VR II
