Shades of Kawaii: A Cute Colouring Book

22 Adorably cute designs printed on one side of non-perforated paper
The media could not be loaded. This is a book of 22 really cute and fun designs. The Kawaii in the title is the Japanese word for cute or adorable and that is certainly what this is. For some who may have some difficulty with spelling, like at least two members of my family, the island in Hawaii is spelled Kauai. When I shared that I had bought this book, they thought it was going to be a book about the island. While they may have been disappointed, I certainly was not. The designs are really cute and remind me of Hello Kitty type of cuteness. There are happy smiling characters all around. It's the type of coloring book that brings a smile to your face. The designs are printed on one side of fairly thin paper. The pages are white and are not perforated. The designs have a framing line around them and stop short of the bound edge, so you can use a penknife to cute pages out if you so wish. The binding is glued rather than sewn. All of my markers had issues with this paper. The best were my Stabilo 88 which only left a shadow on the backside of the page. I could still tell what color it was. Surprisingly, my Staedler fineliners seeped right through. My gel pens did not leak through but I could see a shadow of color. My coloring pencils all worked excellently with the paper. I suggest putting a thicker piece of backing paper or chipboard under the page you are working on to make sure that any ink doesn't ruin the page behind it.I'm starting to add a note to publishers/artists about how the book could be improved. We should keep in mind that improvements probably will add to the cost of the book, so it is one of those be careful what you wish for scenarios. In this particular case, the publisher is CreateSpace, which is actually owned by Amazon. As so many independent artists use this publisher, I'm hoping that some improvements can be made without too much additional cost.In this case, the publishing of the book could be improved in two ways: 1) make the pages perforated. Making it easier to remove the page to color makes life easier for many colorists; and 2) improve the paper quality so that ink doesn't leak through.

Love it!
I love this book! It has 23 designs that are single sided and on medium quality paper. I think this is a great book for kids and adults alike. If you love kawaii or cute, fun books this one is for you!

Really great coloring book! Love the pages in it!
My girlfriend has been wanting this coloring book for so long and I finally caved in to buy it for her, despite her huge and growing collection of coloring books. However, this one has turned out to be her favorite coloring book so far!The book itself is a little small, but the pages inside are very pleasing to look at and are actually really pretty or cute! This has become the main coloring book that my girlfriend will color in and she's coloring so much of it that I'm going to have to buy the next book pretty soon!

The book itself was cute but made of poor quality paper
First off, there was black ink ALL OVER 7 of the 8 books I had ordered. My order didn't even come with anything that had black ink. I had to wipe each book down, as they are needed for work the next day. No point in returning now. Secondly, I bought two of the same books. One of which was wrapped and protected from the ink, however, was falling apart! Brand new book falling apart... Thirdly, the box was way too big. Books slid around and got damaged. Again, these books are needed for work the next day so there is not much I can do about them now but wipe it down as much as possible. The book itself was cute but made of poor quality paper.

Disappointing
I bought this for myself, as an adult who enjoys coloring as a stress relief. It was nice supporting an artist I’ve never heard of before, but this coloring book was printed on cheaply made paper as well as the pages being more “collages,” rather than a coloring book. I was disappointed to see these pages so repetitive with very little monster differential. I expected much more out of the book.

Easy and fun!
I love this little book. I love kawaii anyway. This book is fun and a great choice for kids and adults. I love making coloring pages beautiful and seeing them come to life, but there is that moment of carefree relaxation and you just throw color down. That why you need this cute little book for your collection. I felt it was maybe a little over priced for the quality. I'm still not dissatisfied.

Cheerful and original kawaii style
I love this coloring book! The patterns are original, cheerful, and whimsical. The paper is a little thin, so I would recommend putting a piece of paper underneath your work to protect the next page. I get good results with my colored pencils. The pictures are a good balance, with some detail but not so much that it is overwhelming. 22 single sided pages. This book is a very manageable, portable size that makes it fairly easy for me to finish a page in one afternoon. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes anime, manga, or just an unusual art style.

which makes it perfect. I do wish it had shipped with a ...
So many of these books have super-tiny spaces you can't even color in. Unless you use a microscope. And a .2 mm pen. This one has a mix of different sized spaces to color in, which makes it perfect.I do wish it had shipped with a cardboard backer though, mine got a bit bent. Also, i do prefer spiral bound books, but those are usually more expensive.

Quirky, Fun Colouring Book
I bought this book as I was becoming a bit bored of the same type of drawings to colour in, so this fit the bill perfectly as it's very quirky and - well - different to other offerings out there. The book is fairly small in size but compact, so it would fit in a shopping bag to carry around if need be.Paper quality is adequate for the price paid but could be slightly better, in my opinion. One has to be careful with what types of pen one uses (just ask the Queen LOL) but I use water-based pens rather than the more problematic alcohol-based versions. However, the designs are not printed on each side so I guess it's up to the individual what works best for them.I realise that Miss Wah has brought out a Volume 2 because of the success of this offering but I won't be buying another one. It's just my personal taste, not a reflection of the artist herself. If I tried to draw there would be a stickman in the middle of the page, and that would be me..done!

Very disappointed!!
Really love the designs in this book which is why I bought both of them but was a lot smaller than I expected and ridiculously thin, very disappointed. Have started colouring in it and the paper is awful to colour on, it comes out really blotchy!! Have tried a few different types of pencil crayons on it and they all look awful. Gutted as I love the pictures.

A little on the thin side.
The colouring book was meant for a friend for Christmas but when it came I was very disappointed. It is cute and there are 22 designs to colour and it looks like crayon paper so she'll be very happy however it is very thin and feels like it's the kind of colouring book you'd receive in a magazine. I'm going to get her the other one because I no longer feel like this is enough. Other than that, delivery was swift. I ordered it Thursday and it came the following Monday and it came packaged nicely and there seems to be no damage. I know she'll be happy with it regardless so that's what matters the most.

Adorable and fun!
Love this colouring book. I am always looking lut for colouring books that are not too repetitive like mandala colouring books as they give me terrible anxiety I find these super fun to do. They are not boring. The art is adorable and there is a nice variety. There is one picture per page which i personally like so there is no worry about pens bleeding and ruining the pictures on the otherside. The only complaint that I might have is that there are not many pictures in the book. I still love it though and it is a nice change from the usual colouring books.

Really cute
Shades of Kawaii is a really nice collection of images to colourLiked the fact that the images were single sided so was able to colour using sharpies and markers (when using paper inbetween pages as a barrier.
