Q: Are these rust proof?

Not sure. We used them on a lead rope for our dog and it is kept inside.

Q: This will clamp a 3/4 thick rope to itself correct?

I used it as you described with 1/2 inch rope and it worked fine. There was room left for a larger rope but could not tell you exactly how much.

Q: Whick crimping tool is used for these double rope clamps?

Can't tell you what you should use as I used Channel Lock Pliers and a Ball Peen Hammer. You may want to find something more conventional depending on how you plan to use them. I am using them to attach my Pontoon Paddle boat to my dock. Not sure if my process would be advisable if you plan to use the rope to mountain climb.
