From the other reviews, I expected a tiny flake of metal no more than an inch and a half long, with a wimpy chain. What I got was so much better than that! Although, it's true, the chain is a little long (26 inches), the pendant itself is very weighty and substantial. It's actually die cast metal, with a perfectly antiqued finish. Obviously, don't expect a really heavy chunk of metal, although it is 2.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches in width, the back behind the oval design is hollowed out to decrease it's weight. However, it is still pretty heavy. I was also expecting something cheaper and less detailed than the pictures presented, but actually, it's better. As soon as I figure out how to shorten the chain, this will be perfect, and worth a lot more than the $4 it took to buy it.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS NECKLACE!! It goes with a lot of stuff in my wardrobe and I like the snake motif. My only stipulation is that it is relatively bendable if you happen to jerk it on something that is harder than the metal itself. The chain might need to be smaller or the ring that attaches the necklace to the chain needs to be bigger. Other than that, it's wonderful and I LOVE wearing it!!

The necklace itself is nice and a good lenght but it is very easy to bend and easy to break but if you wear it around you neck and dont mess with it will last a good while mine lasted about 10 month's before the snakes head broke off .So it is really a COSTUME piece and not for jewelry us.

I used this for a pirate costume on Halloween. It was lots of fun and really added to the costume, but I'd recommend using caution with the outer metal: It's pretty nice, but can be pretty flimsy.

I love this necklace. Despite being a toy or costume prop, I wear it regularly. It bends a little too easy for my taste, but I'm being careful with it now. Now, with all that said, I have a theory behind what the pendant symbolizes. Don't hold me to this because I'm only going off of things I've read and it's gonna seem far fetched, but...y'know. I'm not even 100% sure if what I'm gonna say is completely true, but it's worth a shot.Anyhow, I think this necklace symbolizes something from Chinese myth: Xuanwu, the Black Tortoise."What's that? Tortoise? You're insane..."Well, take a look at the object in the center. It bulges out and is kinda rough, kinda like a turtle shell."So why the snake?"In Chinese myth, the Black Tortoise was often coupled with a snake and the serpent also tends to be depicted as slithering around the body of the tortoise. Now, one other thing: I read somewhere that there was a Chinese legend that a giant turtle lurked beneath the ocean and it had a large eye on the center of its shell. Notice the jewel on the pendant? Right smack-dab in the middle of its shell?Again, this is not completely guaranteed to be true. I'm probably rambling nonsensically, but when I read this stuff then REALLY examined the pendant, I kinda...went insane with joy~Anyhow, I'm done now ^_^

Another nice piece from pirates of the caribbean. Captain Barbossa was one of my favorite characters in the movie and I was happy when I found you could buy his necklace. It's on a rather long chain, but you can shortin it if you wanted by taking some of the pieces of it off, I think, but I kept mine the way it was.

It hangs very nicely and has a great weight to it. It looks exactly as advertised and has a very authentic look to it. Very happy with this purchase.
