Lew's American Hero 6.4:1 Right Hand Baitcast Reel

Very fast service item was just what I wanted.

This Lew’s American Hero is great for the price. I placed it on a Lew’s Mach 2 7ft medium heavy fast action rod with 40lb Berkley X9 Crystal braid. I put a layer of electrical tape on the spool for the braid to grip on to, do not put braid directly to the spool. There needs to be some kind of backer wether you use fluorocarbon, monofilament or a piece of electrical tape to start with. The reel was smooth, light weight, easy to operate and cast pretty far even though I put heavy braid on it. The drag and spool tension adjustments do not have detents(makes audible click noise when adjusting) Not to be expected on affordable class reels. I am very pleased with the Lew’s reel and would purchase another one on my next new rod. If you are thinking about buying a bait casting reel from a company you know nothing about or are skeptical. Don’t! Buy a Lew’s, when they are on sale it is only $3 more for a lot better reel that will last you a long time. I caught a 5 pound largemouth bass the day after I received it and the reel performed excellent. The reel towed the bass in with no lock up and no slipping drag. Just make sure that you have fun the reel will do the rest.

I expected much more from lews big let down on this one no paper work in box, no oil that I have always gotten with other lews reels The reel was very tight and did not event come close to being smooth as the other lews reels I have. I bought this one to replace a old basspro reel I have that the drag quit working on and thought it was goind to be a grate upgrade but the old reel casts and reels smoother then this one. I have another lews on order from amazon that I ordered before this one that hasn't even shipped yet so maybe it will live up to my expiations if I ever get it.

Always been a fan of Lew’s fishing equipment. Needed another reel and for the price, I couldn’t pass up this one. The reel is light weight and very smooth. The drag is nice on this reel and all the adjustments help with less back lash.

Right out of the box I was impressed with it's size and weight,i only made a few casts with it after I put on some line which wound very nicely on the spool,The reel is very smooth casts a mile, and is 100% anti reverse,already going to buy another one for my son and start weeding out my old junk !worth every penny as of now would recommend.8-15-15 Update,I have used this reel a few times and caught some real nice Bass too! I really Love the reel ! BUT! .... Today on it's 4th trip out I was reeling in a 1/4 oz. Spinner Bait and the KNOB feel off! I was so Disappointed that this happen to a reel i was really lovin'Amazon is quickly shipping out another one (thank you Amazon) I hope the next one does not start to fall apart after a few uses, (I know Sh*t happens and it may be no fault of Lew's), other wise I will have to change my opinion on the Lew's American Hero Reel!

I Ordered from this seller.Clamed to be a New Reel. For $88.31It came to me in opened packaging with ware marks on the reel. Suggesting it was clearly used.The spool would not turn no matter what i did with the spool tension knob or star drag unless the star drag was so tight the handle could barely move.Then the spool would only move 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch.The line release button did not function at all.The model clamed in the ad was not the model received.The model on the reel was not the model on the packaging.I paid 88.31 for a reel i received that should have cost no more than 45.00.

Difficult to find left handed reels in lower speeds but this one was worth the wait to find. Smooth action and seems pretty sturdy, time will tell. Never had a Lews product do me wrong yet though!
