Q: What is the difference between this set and the one from the National Museum of Scotland?

I own the Regency Company chess set. I think the main differences are that the Regency set comes with 34 pieces (two extra Queens) and the National Museum of Scotland comes with 32 pieces. The dimensions of pieces in both of the sets are the same and they are both made from stone resin. As I say I own the official regency set but I am quite sure I would be happy with either. Hope this helps.

Q: We're the original Lewis men brown and white?

I understand that over 70 pieces from a number of incomplete sets were originally found. The colour had been bleached away on all pieces. A few had residual traces of red but that could also be part of a brown colour. I suggest you could query it with the maker of this set, but nevertheless they look pretty good anyway!

When choosing a board you have to allow for the broadest based piece which is the king, measuring 4.5 cms. I bought a 21 inch board for the set and it works perfectly.
