They don’t include a magnet, they require soldering and they’re preset for 0-5v output
Update 7-7-23: These are becoming my preferred as5600 part because they’re small and they have the necessary filter capacitors on them. They fit easily into my projects which the square white ones do not. Digikey has diamagnetic magnets for them listed along with bare as5600 chips, they cost about $0.50 each iirc. I built several of my own from bare chips and Adafruit SOIC-8 boards but the filter caps were very difficult to squeeze into the project. These already have them. The signal from these has no problems traversing 50’ of shielded small-signal wire.Update 1/29/22: these are the cheapest units I’ve found that produce 0-5v and actually work. As outlined below the i2c connector pads are junk but the analog ones are usable.I haven’t tried using the i2c interface because who feels like trying to solder to those tiny pads. I ordered these on a whim and did not notice that the boards are really small, roughly 1/2” by 3/4”, and those six pads for i2c are just about impossible to solder to.I did solder to the 3 larger pads and once I dug out a proper horizontal magnet I was able to see the output signal to track from 0 to 5v depending on the position. So according to my scope these are preprogrammed for the voltage output option. Other as5600 units I have purchased output nothing and require you to use the i2c interface, I was unable to find an arduino library that included functions to select the output format of analog or pwm so I’m using them in i2c mode only. It’s annoying that these cost this much and do not even include a magnet. Also annoying is the long shipping delay, I did not notice that when ordering or I’d have chosen something else.Ultimately these are probably not usable for my purpose which is a wind direction sensor with a 50’ shielded cable leading back to an arduino display head. A wire that long carrying an analog signal will pick up all manner of noise spikes that will cause havoc with the display.
