So far so good
So far its been working great. Replaced a unit that had a bad spindle motor.

I already said that the plug is in a different position and the cable would'nt reach, so I could'nt use it....

Operational with a little work
When it arrived it did not work. I've been around storage devices since the 70s and was able to determine that the carriage sled was not moving. I was able to free it up and after moving it across the rails a few time it moved smoothly. It works OK now.Note also this drive is a drop in replacement for the DVD half of the Sony RDR-VX560 combo VHS/DVD recorder.
