is a fine product to use during welding
Miller Electric Half Mask Respirator ReviewThe half mask respirator, from MIller Electric, is a fine product to use during welding, or any circumstance that may expose you to harsh chemicals or irritants. I am a welder, and I have been using this mask in conjunction with a welding mask and safety glasses. The fit is good, but my face is more slender than most. This product does have an adjustable strap so it should fit varying face sizes but one should be mindful when purchasing this product as it will be uncomfortable for anyone with a larger than average face. The quality of this mask is fairly robust as the synthetic rubber forms a good seal around the mouth and nose. The filters are also of high quality and should only need to be replaced once every two months or so with moderate usage, (30 minutes to an hour of continuous welding, 3 days out of the week).Due to the tight seal formed around the mouth and nose, air from your nose and mouth will not rise and fog up your safety glasses. As a welder this is extremely important during welding as monitoring the arc and bead flow is essential for creating a good weld. I’ve purchased many disposable respirators in hopes of holding back some irritants but in my experience they degrade during use, which is rather troublesome. This mask has completely eliminated that problem and I have been comfortably using it for over a year now. If you want to save your money, time and preserve your health; I recommend buying this mask

Fabulous - the best! (With one caveat)
As a woodworker I own a lot of different respirator types in what seems like a never-ending search for the elusive combination of effectiveness and comfort. This type is easily the best I have ever used and I could not recommend it more highly! Due to its HEPA filters it takes virtually all particles of concern out of the air, while still allowing very easy breathing. It is also highly comfortable and therefore easy to wear for long periods. It is light weight and comfortable. I must admit that my biggest concern when I ordered it was its small size, as I have a rather prominent nose, but as it turns out that is no problem.Alas, there is still one drawback to this respirator. When I am doing lathe work I wear a full face shield for safety. Because the exhaust on this mask is in the front center it has a tendency to fog the mask. I therefore wear a different respirator when turning wood, but switch back to this one for sanding. It is great!

Excellent respirator for low ventilated welding environments.
This respirator performs very well in a daily welding environment with low ventilation. As a welding student, I use this respirator on a regular basis and can attest that Miller Electric did and excellent job in its construction. It is solidly built, fits well under my Lincoln Electric welding mask, does not give the suffocating feeling that many respirators are known for, and can quickly be taken on and off. The only downside is that the filter cartridges must be changed about once a month when frequently performing SMAW and FCAW welding. Never the less, I would recommend this product to those who weld on a regular basis, or every once in a while. If you want to keep welding fumes away from your lungs, this is the mask for you.

Great for all around respirator
I read the reviews and I was hoping to find something that was more compact than my 3M 6000. It is true that is is more compact and the fit is nice and tight, however, the upper strap on the 3M is much more convenient to use. Also, the filters on 3M is readily available and easier to detach and install. I am a sculptor, and use this respirator when I grind metal, sand wood and shape stones. Overall the following is my impression on this respirator:What I like about it:1. Nice and snug2. Very useful for wood, stone and metal work3. Compact and less obtrusive4. I can wear my glasses comfortablyWhat I don't like about it:1. Upper strap is not as convenient as 3M (either I have to take it off completely or leave it one on the face; hanging down the chin is uncomfortable)2. Filters cost more than the 3M3. I cannot put on my welding helmet while this respirator on

Great for welding
My son was tired of breathing in noxious chemicals while going to school for welding. This fits under his helmet perfectly, so he can enjoy life again.

Lung protection and comfort
Great mask. I have lung issues and also do woodworking so I needed some protection that I could wear all the time in the shop. I tried the higher end paper mask with the valve but the rise above the nose restricted my field of view and didn't properly seal. The small size sits below my field of view and doesn't make wearing glasses uncomfortable either. Great product, wish I had it years ago before I damaged my lungs. Wood dust WILL cause lung issues later in life so if you do any woodwork protect your lungs! You'll regret it if you don't. I sure do.

Nice little mask. Fits well and does a great job.
I finally gave up on the cheap disposable masks and wanted to try something a little nicer. After reading reviews and looking around, I settled on this one. At first I was concerned about size (SM/MD vs MD/LG) and went with the SM/MD, which worked perfectly for both my wife and me. She spent a day using it while doing demo on tile and drywall, and says it worked well for her. I just spent a day in my wood shop, sanding, sawing, planing, and emptying my dust collector. It worked very well for me. Neither of us has problems with our safety glasses fogging up and it's much easier to breath with than the disposable ones, even those with a valve thingy on the front. We ordered a second one, so we each could be using one.
