My dream pocket knife
I have wanted the RussLock Case knife since they first were introduced a bunch of years ago. Materials, assembly, fit and finish of this knife are excellent. There has been no disappointment. The liner lock is positive and very solid. You should know better that this is NOT a quick flip opening knife, but a solid and safe one. Some break-in with oil will ease opening only a little bit. I cycled and oiled mine 200 times and it is positive, smooth and safe, but again, not a flipper. The pictures do no justice to the G-10 handle material that has been described for many years as "Indestructible". The G-10 material is beautiful with a graphite cloth layered grain look. I, personally, have worked as a professional sharpener of surgical instruments. The factory edge is sharp and serviceable. I reset it to 25 degrees and progressively sharpened and honed it to a 1,000 grit edge suitable for eye surgery with no difficulty at all using the Smith's Diamond/Arkansas Precision Knife Sharpening System I also got on Amazon. I'm glad I finally got this knife that I wanted for so long and am completely satisfied.

Exceptional Pocket Knife
This is my first Case knife but I had heard of them by name for the quality of their blades. Everything I heard was right. This knife, although a little smaller than I had imagined it, is solidly constructed and thoughtfully designed. On the photo of the knife, the handle has a somewhat wooden look to it with the way the black has that wavy pattern. In person, while still there, the pattern is blended with a very modern-looking steel-like texture that is mainly visible when reflecting light. (I added a photo up top to show this...) It looks quite striking. The thumb latch that opens the blade, when practiced, is very functional and much preferred to the typical thumbnail notch that most pocket knives have. It may sound silly, but I have gotten quite good at opening the knife with one hand and find it entertaining to simply open and close the knife. I saw an online review saying it is hard to do this, but with practice, it becomes quit natural. I highly recommend this knife and will likely buy another Case blade in the future.

By it, use it, pass it on to your kids.
This is a nice looking Case knife. I got it thinking or would be a quick open, nope it is not. It took me over a week to loosen the hinge enough to open or smoothly. That is a good thing though, I don't have to worry about hitting the lever and having the blade pop out. This is the softest steel on a knife that I own, with a 56 on the harness scale get your fine stone ready to do regular touch ups. My answer, make the edge sharper... This blade came sharp, sharp enough that I didn't feel it the three times I nicked myself when working the hinge. After two weeks and constantly touching up the blade after cutting 550 cord I put my edge on it. I use this blade for slicing, I can cleanly slice a free hanging 550 cord line, or pass any other sharpness test you have. Oddly, it holds thst edge better than the manufacturers.

Great daily carry knife with an extremely sharp blade edge.
Really nice knife. I've never had a Russlock knife, so I wasn't sure I'd like it. Not only does it look cool, it is VERY functional. It takes about 2 minutes to figure out how to open it, but after that, it'll practically feel spring-loaded. The blade is a cool shape and is VERY sharp. I've dropped the knife several times and it shows no signs of the drops. All in all a great daily carry knife that despite the affordable price can be handed down to the next generation.

but no one makes a better looking knife
Case is a company that shows that the USA is still capable of producing a high quality product at a reasonable price. There are knifes made in the USA that are as well built as a Case (Kershaw being one), but no one makes a better looking knife. They're classics.

Not usual Case quality
I am a huge fan of Case knives. Unfortunately, this one arrived in abhorrent condition and I had to return it. Fingerprints and grease do not bother me - I have no problem wiping a new knife down. The one I purchased had light scratches on the handle, blade, and bolsters. One of the bolsters had a small chip in it. The logo either had paint in parts of it or some other defect with the metal. In addition to the scratches, the blade’s edge was the worst I have ever seen on a brand new knife. One side of the edge was rolled over as though there was no final honing. Certain parts of the edge even had small chips in the blade. I do not typically return knives - I like sharpening and working on them. This one was too damaged for the money to be worth any effort.

Russlock makes me happy
Great knife. Sharp right out of the box. Holds an edge really well. The Russlock mechanism is a little odd to use at first, but now I can pull it out and open the blade one handed, and then close it again. It is somewhat larger than the pocket knives I've carried in the past, but I kept breaking those so the heavier American made knife is working well. Hopefully, I never need to use the warranty.
