When my ankles hurt at night I can apply it and the aching subsides. The salve's effect seem to last longer although it doesn't absorb as quickly as the gel. Sometimes I must apply it twice. It's better than taking advil all the time.

It is firm but not hard. It really works well. Kind of pack it into the cracks on your skin. You will be amazed how well it works.
