The bass is strong in this one.
They've got a highly "technical" sound to them. More suited for analysis rather than care-free enjoyment. Details are sharp and rich, though the overall sound is reserved in nature, cold and concentrated, not loud and proud, I suspect that this aspect is potentially a deal breaker for some. but what really stands out is the bass. When listening to well produced music, the bass is able to trick my brain into thinking an earthquake is happening (not joking). The bass measures twice, cuts once and is capable of invoking an uncommon neurological response. The only flaw I find is that the technology involved is very expensive and the cable it comes with doesn't reflect that. Enter at your own risk.

Underrated, I tied several IEMs this won!
I tried several brands and other moondrop IEMs. This IEM hit all the things I was looking for. Comfort is the best, and it doesn’t feel like they are on after some time. Advice, switch around several ear tips, it can change the sound. Also I use an amp, when not on phone, and you can push them to sound even better.

Great detail, but some serious flaws
Pros:Amazing build qualityVery clear detailed soundExcellent imagingAbove average soundstage Handles busy music with easeGood bass and treble extensionGreat fit with above average isolationCons:Mids are a little recessedBass is primarily in the lower register, leaving upper bass and lower mids sounding thin (This includes a lot of commonly used lower register instruments and male vocals)Cable and accessories are lacking for this price classThere is no filter to prevent wax/dust from entering the portsThere is no vent, which causes pressure build up in ear canalI would recommend these to anyone looking for a highly resolving earphone with a very analytical sound that has a sensitivity to bass. A good alternative at this price is the Thieaudio Clairvoyance, which exhibits a lot of the same sound qualities plus has a dynamic driver that produces proper bass. However, I personally found the S8 fit a bit more comfortable.

Worth it - Buy Them
Ok, I just received my S8’s today.. and I’m impressed. It’s over.. I’m done with full size cans now, I’ll never buy another pair. I was listening to Sunday Morning by Zilched when the S8’s arrived, and I was finding my FiiO FH-7’s overwhelmed by the bass, but the S8’s handled the heavy bass and reverb just fine, and the clarity on the high end is incredible. Of course, headphones need a little break in time, so in a couple of weeks I might edit this review a bit. But amazing sound out of the box for sure.

Pins bent on cable
Overall nice sound quality, but the stock cable is not great. The little pins were bent for the right side out of the box, this is not due to shipping but rather a factory defect as the shipping box arrived in perfect condition. Had to use a pair of pliers to bend the pins straight so I could get them inserted to the right-side IEM.Very disappointing QC, but not surprising nowadays.
