Lifesaver book for our family!
This book saved the day for us. Wr are unfortunately anxious parents, this day. Our children are beginning to show possible signs of feeling the same. We wanted to correct these patterns before too long. This book was essential in addressing issues. Highly recommended.

Accessible and Applicable - WORKS
I've recently started seeing kids for anxiety in my psychotherapy practice, and I have a 9 year old who has anxiety. GET THIS BOOK. I became interested when I participated in an anxiety certification in which Lynn Lyons presented. She's insightful, honest, and offers clear guidance about how to help parents and kids work together to overcome anxiety. There's no judgement in the book, just identifying likely scenarios (that I recognized in my own experience) and ways to move into managing anxiety from high-jacking your lives.

Very Helpful
I bought this book after experiencing too much anxiety from my two toddlers, ages 1 and 2, regarding bugs, new people, and water/swimming. Neither are to the point of having a real problem but I want to nip this anxiety in the bud before we do have problems. This book is structured toward older children (or adults) who do have real problems but the principles are incredibly helpful for anyone who experiences worry and anxiety. The most helpful principles I've learned is to expect worry and that it's normal in certain situations so condemning someone who feels anxious is very unhelpful. Less anxious people are not free from everyday worries but they know how to talk to their worry, so that's what an anxious person just needs to learn as well. I've also learned that worry pushes for avoidance and inaction so I am on high alert for those types of reactions in both myself and my kids.I have responded much better toward my own worries after reading this book and am less surprised/upset when my kids express worry because I'm learning to manage/work with worry rather than eradicate it or hope it just disappears. I'm thankful to have found this book while my kids are still so young.

Helpful, informative.
Easy to read, very good information delivery without over explaining or too much jargon. I would recommend to anyone with an anxious child.

Great Resource for Parents of Anxious Children
I am a clinical social worker who specializes in treating pediatric anxiety and OCD. I recommend this book to parents of anxious children. Parenting anxious kids is counter intuitive because parents naturally want to comfort and protect their fearful children. But providing protection and reassurance and allowing children to avoid uncomfortable feelings only makes anxiety worse. This book is also a great resource for parents who are anxious themselves. The program is clearly presented and easy to follow, with an emphasis on positive role modeling by parents, identifying and removing accommodation of avoidant behavior, and helping both kids and parents learn to tolerate uncertainty and uncomfortable emotions. I particularly like the information on helping anxious kids become more flexible. Both Dr. Wilson and Lynn Lyons are recognized as experts in the treatment of anxiety.

A MUST for kids and parents with anxiety
This book was recommended to me in a peaceful parenting group. I had finally realized that my daughters rigidity was due to anxiety not her just being “difficult”. It broke my heart since I know what living with anxiety is like and didn’t want that for her. I tried and failed to do things to help her. This book was an amazing resource to explain why what I was doing wasn’t working and what I could do instead. I started implementing the suggestions in this book during the summer and could not be happier with the change in both my daughter and I. There is a drastic decrease in stand offs and meltdowns (from both of us!). I am so grateful for the positive changes this book has brought to our home. Even my four year old has used the strategies to calm herself down....just from hearing the conversations between my older daughter and I! I feel like we can breathe again! I can’t recommend it enough!

Important and Lifesaving Book!!
Between intensive therapy and this book, which her therapist recommended, my daughter and I are getting our lives back! Anxiety has systematically been wrecking everything, but we are getting over things and I’ve never felt more encouraged and excited! This is a wonderful system for dealing with anxiety and phobias, easy to understand, and actually fun to implement. Our lives were at a complete standstill, but this book and her wonderful therapist have brought back the sunshine and happiness. Highly recommend!!!!

Lifesaver for our family
Our 3 year old was having a lot of anxiety in social situations. Although the age this book targets is for older children, I felt that the principles and exercises can still be applied no matter what age. It helped me recognize my own tendencies to perpetuate his anxiety. After a month we already see major improvements. I feel like my parenting is more empowering now and he definitely has more confidence which makes my heart so happy. I’m glad we started to address this early. So thankful for this book!

Good advice
This is a great book to make you realise you e been doing everything wrong but at least gives you some good tips on how to fix all the damage you've done during your child's formative years.

Simple and easy to follow . Must buy for a parent with anxious kids.
Simple to understand and easy to follow, this book is a excellent source for understanding and assisting your kids who suffer from anxiety. It's very useful for adults too. Very well written with examples provided making it veru user friendly . Not too many complicated words , to the point and simplified. Recommended strongly for anyone who wants a practical and long term solution to rid themselves or their children from anxiety and if possible endless expensive sessions with phsycologists. Worth pirchasung this book and Casey's guide for teens too Along with it. The children will find it EXTREMELY helpful. My daughter enjoyed Caseys guide immensly while i read this book and we have already begun our journey to recovery. God bless the authors. Tip : you need to get both the books for better effect especially if a child is involved.

Favourite resource
I saw Lynn Lyons present at a school based mental health conference and I loved her fun yet realistic approach to dealing with childhood anxiety. Purchased the book she wrote with Reid Wilson and was not disappointed. I recommend it to parents on a regular basis, as it provides an achievable, stepwise approach to coping with anxiety. There's no snap-your-fingers-and-everything's-better solution; this does take effort and commitment. I've used this approach with a number of students from K-7 with really positive results.

Brilliant, huge help.
Excellent book for parents and kids. It's changed how I deal with the anxiety my child has and she really enjoyed 'Casey's book'. I have read quite a few books on the subject and I thoroughly recommend this one.
