Small, simple, inexpensive, functional
I flattened the bottom to get the coating off and apply paste wax. The blade was easy to sharpen and adjust. It’s way nicer to carry one of these for small jobs than a whole block plane.

Got the job done
Very sturdy and well made with great adjustment settings.

Great for doors
Bought this to plane off just a smidge from an interior door.Out of the package, I was a bit taken aback by how tiny it is, but once I got used to it, it's actually the perfect size for what I needed it for.- I'd only used block surform planes in the past, so it took me a few strokes to learn that this plane works best using long strokes rather than short motions- I imagine this would be a bit uncomfortable to use for larger projects, as no matter how tightly I set the screw (that holds the blade in place), after a few strokes, the pressure made the blade move back up into the plane. It was easy to just loosen the screw, push the blade back into place, and tighten the screw again, but over the course of a larger project, I imagine it would get annoying to keep doing this again and again.- The screw has a round head on it that doesn't stick very far up above the plane itself. The head is textured, which allows for some decent grip, but perhaps a larger head or wing-nut shaped head would make it easier to tighten/loosen. I am a woman and it wasn't the easiest to grip with my hand size. I asked my husband to try it, and he had a pretty difficult time with his larger hand size. For my small project, it worked great.

Very sharp and effective when blade is adjusted
Really like this. Be aware that is very small. It cut through white ash very well.

Easy to Use and Cuts with Precision
This is a great little tool that I bought to trim the excess edgebanding around the sides of my bathroom cabinet top. It's a solid quality tool.I'm not the greatest DIYer, yet I'm somewhat of a perfectionist. Sometimes I have trouble getting the precise outcome I expect, so I was a little afraid that I would cut the edgebanding too deep, or gouge it, if I wasn't able to push the tool smoothly. But I went slow, and it cut very smoothly, and it worked like a charm. For me to find this tool easy to use, and precise, means this tool is a good one. I was even thinking of how else I could use this little gem on other projects. If you're deciding on which small trimming plane to get, this is a #1 choice.

Somewhat difficult to use without fine sharpening by an expert...
Although I can get this to work with some effort, and it will produce wood shavings in the few times I manage to get just the right pressure and just the right setting of the blade - the truth is - it needs to be professionally sharpened first. If you need a small trimming plane - invest in a high quality one to save yourself time. It's worth the investment. This will do as a handy shaver for "rough" projects, but I wouldn't use it on any fine furniture, or where you need to shave off thin layers (such as with door hanging, etc).

You need to sharpen it yourself but works well.
Once it’s sharp it works fine. The blade doesn’t fit snug so it can take a few attempts to set it, but for the price it’s definitely does the job. I wouldn’t recommend buying to someone who doesn’t have the tools to sharpen the blade though.Edit:Had this little thing for awhile longer now. Again, you need to be able to sharpen it. But it takes an edge well, at least for me. I’ve used it way more than I anticipated. If I remember correctly I got it for under ten dollars or around ten dollars. Definitely worth it. If you don’t know how to sharpen blades it would be a good tool to try with.

Inexpensive and Surprisingly Useful.
Came in real useful for many things, like rounding 4x4 post corners to fit plastic caps on, rounding edge of all-weather deck rails and removing splinters, shaving bottom of door that kept catching on door rug.Have to retighten after a dozen strokes, but nicely adjustable for depth,
