Four Stars
Very practical and time saving guide to doing job analysis - worth reading just for that. A practitioner could also adapt the JASR method to their own personal preferences, in my view, according to the situation.

A Very Practical Guide
While working as a police training consultant in Bosnia, I used this book to conduct a job analysis of a basic police officer. The end goal was to evaluate and revise the curriculum for the police academy's basic police officer course.I assembled a diverse group of police officers of various ages, ranks and positions and guided them through the process. The project was very successful. I highly recommend this book,

Great nuts and bolts book that is easy to follow.
This book boils down the complex steps of job analysis into simple, easy to find subroutines that allows you to get started immediately.Mr. Hartley describes all the known alternatives to conducting job analysis processes, then explains how his JASR (pronounced jazz-er) method incorporates them handily into his simplied model. He details each step in his JASR model, giving you plenty of tips to complete each successfully. His years of experience show, and he shares it with the reader generously. Plenty of well done graphics re-enforce the key concepts. At the end of the book is a thorough "job aid" which again explains the key concepts of each step, and how you can get started implementing it immediately. He also includes a nice section on how to facilitate a JASR section that is applicable to any group meeting. Mr. Hartley says his process can be done in 2-3 hours in one meeting -- and after reading his book, I believe it.A good addition to anyone involved in developing competency models for performance improvement projects. Job Analysis at the Speed of Reality
This was a great book. It overviews various methods of Job Analysis and compares their value and relevancy. The JASR method is a refreshing, effective alternative to more traditional, cumbersome methods that aren't efficient in todays business environment. This is a quick, easy to read book with a methodology that demystifies job analysis for the beginning practitioner and is appropriate for the seasoned practitioner looking to update their job analysis approach-to the speed of reality today.

A big essay!
After reading the book i found that it could be summarized in one paper only , i found no helpful examples at allno solid differentiation between Duties and TasksA lot of talking about things out of scope ( i.e : other job analysis techniques , pros & cons for each , a chapter on how to present well , and how to be deliver the session)After all i found it a waste of time and money and didn't add any new info for me
