Perfect for a lazy pug
Molly went blind overnight and was using her face as a bumper. Since pugs have short snouts, we were worried about her poor eyes. Despite lukewarm reviews, we decided to try this product. She measured as a size small, but a size XS might have worked, too. The ring was huge, but it was simple to reduce it to about half. The rig is very light, probably weighing less than her regular harness. The straps are very adjustable and need to be snug so the dog feels resistance when the halo makes contact with something.Molly didn’t seem to notice the halo until it made contact with the wall, then she stopped immediately (see picture). We took her outside where she used the halo to navigate the entire interior of the fence, something she hadn’t been brave enough to do before. She tends to walk while sniffing and the halo works well as a bumper in this position. She was easily able to crawl into her bed for a nap. The halo bends and she quickly learned when to respond to its resistance and when not to. She didn’t seem to notice it when drinking from her bowl. She had only been wearing for an hour and has seemed to have mastered it. It doesn’t seem super sturdy, but it is comfortable and light and sturdy enough for a middle aged pug. A more energetic dog might not do as well with it because he may not have time to respond to the tug as he uses the bumper if he is running or he may break it.Honestly, if it breaks in three months, I’ll fix it or buy another and still give it five stars. It’s saving my poor girl more trauma, providing her freedom and increased mobility and it’s simple to use.Update; so, Molly has worn this for over a week and we are ready to mail it back with the pug still inside. She’s driving us crazy. Our pug that spent most of her time in bed is constantly underfoot, climbing on the sofa, begging at the kitchen table, and tripping us while we cook. She races to the front door to bark at the postal worker. We loosened one side of the halo because she kept getting it stuck while rooting around for crumbs under the fridge. Now if it lassos something, she can pull it free.We ordered a back up.

Decent for the price
I read some back & forth reviews for the product but ultimately ordered because of the price point. All the components of the harness seem pretty quality. I read that the halo will break easily, it doesn't seem as such unless it was really being wrecked on. And even if that were to happen, I think it would be easily replaced with something at the hardware store. It works best with objects directly in front of Vader, I didn't realize his face would hit the halo as he turns his head & "looks" around. My only downfall is that it somewhat points upward in stead of being straight out in front of him. We only had it on him once, but home is where he does best. Maybe he'll use it more for unknown places, I'm glad we have it just in case and I'm glad we got it for less than $80+

You have to adjust and cut off excess
Thos product was a bit difficult to adjust. You have the foam toub that has to be cut back then the medal loop. The product even after adjusted doesn't fit a small dog well. She's already blind this product put an extra obstacle in her way.

It wasn't awful but it has quite a few design flaws
I used this when my Yorkipoo, who's since passed away from complications of diabetes, and she and I both had mixed feelings. The first few days were okay but I noticed the wire was a tiny bit droopy, kind of bounced when she'd walk, and when she ran into things it would bend instead of hitting the obstacle to let her know it's there. I figured it was just her getting used to it & learning not to go full steam ahead, but after a few more days it was much worse. by the 2nd week, she was having issues with getting the wire caught on the ground and pushing it underneath her. she'd walk around with that wire just sliding on the floor underneath her which frustrated her more because it made the harness itself more uncomfortable.I would suggest getting a different product; this one would be better if the wire went up and then out from the harness instead of just outward. Also, look for one that you can customize the wire length for your pet to avoid the issues Coco had. I'm sure if you really tried at it you could change the wire on this one but it was not something that I could do and by the time I thought to do it, the wire was warped from being dragged all over the house & yard.

Functional and affordable
Ok so it isn’t a true Halo but for a fraction of the cost it does its job! I do feel it could be a little sturdier but for the most part this does slow my boy down enough so he doesn’t hit things quite at full speed. I’d definitely buy it again and I think with a little diy you could probably sturdier it up nicely. If you’re looking for a budget blind dog aid the give it a try!

Easy to customize, great value
My dog a 15 poundish Maltese went suddenly blind and our vet recommended a halo to help him navigate. He’s had it for a couple of days and has figured it out! The first couple of days I helped with a leash attached to the vest- but he’s now solo! The hoop was a bit large but I was able to easily cut it down to size and easily trimmed the foam. I used simple wire cutters for the hoop and sharp scissors to trim the foam without removing it from the hoop. I did not find this to be a difficult process at all. Norton my dog is very happy with our purchase!
