Amazing results!
I recently tried out an automotive rim polish compound, and I’m genuinely impressed with the results. My rims were in pretty rough shape, with noticeable rust and a dull finish. I wasn’t expecting a miracle, but this polish compound really exceeded my expectations.First off, it did an outstanding job at restoring the rims. The rust came off surprisingly easily, and after just one application, the rims were visibly cleaner. What really amazed me was how shiny the rims became after using the compound. They went from dull and rusty to looking almost brand new, with a mirror-like finish that I hadn’t seen in years. One of the best things about this product is how little effort it required. I was dreading hours of scrubbing, but that wasn’t the case at all. A few minutes of applying the compound and a light scrub was all it took to see dramatic results. It made the whole process quick and easy, which is a huge plus. I used an abrasive pad for faster scrubbing, which left some swirling marks. However, I’d like to go back over the rims with a finer buffing cloth for even better results.

Excellent - Not a Miracle - There Are No Miracles To Be Had
Yes, there are no miracles. A miracle would be to apply polish to heavily oxidized aluminum, work it for a while with an angle buffer, and have it come out with a mirror finish. There is nothing - NOTHING - that will do that. Nor is there anything you can spray on that will remove heavily oxidation. All polishes are work.I'm redoing a 1953 Airstream that was probably never polished and spent the last 22 years sitting in the sun and weather on a farm. (There was a tree growing through the tongue.) It's overall heavily oxidized. The surface feels like fine sandpaper. Now, these vintage Airstreams were made with all-clad aluminum that has a thin surface layer of soft metal to take that true mirror finish you don't see on new ones. You can indeed return it to that state, but this polish won't do that. No polish alone will do that. That requires many steps of abrasives to remove scratches and several steps of different polishes to bring back the shine. That's more than I want to do, so I determined to do the best a polish could do. This is the one I chose.Being a polish, it can't remove scratched. Nor an it or any other polish remove all the oxidation in one pass. It takes multiple applications, wiping away black oxide and buffing after each application. If your aluminum isn't too heavily oxidized, meaning it's clouded but without visible nodules of oxidation, you can get a pretty nice finish with two or three applications. Heavy oxidation will take three, four, or more. And that's with an angle grinder type polisher, and running through a fair number of wool applicators. You don't want to try to do it all in one pass, because you'll build up so much black oxide that it will hard to remove. It's impressive enough that you actually can get through heavy oxidation with a polish. You will get filthy. You can just about throw away your clothes when the project's done. And you'll need a LOT or cotton polishing rags. (We bought them by the pound from the Goodwill store where they dump their excess by the pound.) You'll use one to wipe down the oxide and another to buff it up before you finish it with your orbital buffer. The result will, if it's old, still show its age, but the shine can be good enough to read a newspaper's reflection. I tried other polishes. None that I tried did as well as this one.I am about one-third through the project, an 18-foot aluminum travel trailer. I expect to run through the entire 72 ounce jar and then some, but I think I can do the past pass with some of the other polishes I tried first. But I understand now why they get $3000 to polish these things to a mirror finish.Needless to say, if you just want to polish a newish aluminum object that is only a little dulled, the results will be stunning. If you're doing something that's just mildly oxidized, you can get a very nice finish with a reasonable investment of sweat. So, five stars for doing all a polish can do, better than most.

Works Pretty Well
I bought this after reading lots of reviews and wanted something that worked, but wouldn't be so strong as to damage chrome or paint surrounding it. It's easy to misuse this product...that is to use too much of it. I bought this larger 19+oz jar thinking I would be using a lot to go over my motorcycle, but I've hardly put a dent in the container and I've almost finished a first go round of the bike. The pros are that it works well, cleans chrome and metal well, if there's decent chrome to be found under the dirt, etc. I first used a bit on a piece of cloth and worked it into the metal...then polished it with a clean cloth. Much of the time this seems good enough, but if you have some surface rust or pitting/discoloration you'll find you'll have to go over it again, perhaps with 0000 steel wool which is abrasive enough to help get some of that off without damaging the chrome itself.Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the purchase, but I can see from my experience thus far that there are times/conditions when I would like to have something even stronger to use on more heavily tarnished/affected chrome or metal but the Blue Magic will work if you put a little more elbow grease into what you're doing. Once the metal is cleaned and shiny, it works very quickly when recleaning/polishing.The only cons I can think of are what others have already mentioned. The ammonia smell is quite strong, so you definitely have to work in an open or well aired space. I hold the container away from me and work in the garage with the door open and haven't had any issues. I also tend to limit myself to 1-2 hours of polishing work at a time so I'm not exposed to the fumes for any extended period. Another concern is that you probably should be wearing some protective gloves when working with this metal polish. It's not so much that it will damage your skin if you get some on you, but on those occasions when I've been too lazy to put on a pair of latex gloves, the combination of dirt and rust and Blue Magic is difficult, if not impossible to wash off your hands/fingers. I've had a couple of days after spending some time using this product without gloves when a couple of fingers retained a darker, dirtier appearance. My wife wasn't thrilled...but it ultimately washed/wore off in a couple of days and now I always wear gloves while polishing metal.

Tarnish disappears.
This stuff is excellent. I have been trying to get the tarnish off of a copper kitchen hood above the stove for a very long time. I got this product and was able to get all the tarnish off in one day. It shines so nice and bright now.
