Helped me enjoy a Colorado winter
These are the 1st and only pair of snowshoes I have ever owned. I used them throughout the 2017-18 Colorado winter. From a price/weight/performance perspective, and reading many online reviews of other brands, I would say the Altas Aspect snowshoes are hard to beat. The product description states the following:"ReactiV-Trac construction integrates the perimeter aft traction of a serrated t-frame and the flex of an elliptically formed nose"I would say the serrated t-frame is one of the best features of these snowshoes. Their grip is ample. The only reason I rated them 4 out of 5 stars is because strapping them on and taking them off is not as easy as others I've seen. My friend has MSR snowshoes and she can get them on and off in half the time it takes me with these. But it's nothing I can't live with and I would buy these again!

Backcountry blasters
Fantastic snowshoes. Granted, the only other 'shoes I had used before these were MSR Evos. I ordered the 24" size. The Aspects provide excellent float in the Utah powder that I snowshoe in, sinking only up to 1.5 feet at the very most, but usually not that much (with me and my pack, there's probably 160 pounds on the snowshoes). I recently went 1500 vertical feet in .75 miles, straight up a peak, and the snow had a very thick crust. The cleat and side traction worked very well. I never slipped, and the terrain was pretty steep. The heel lifts are also very nice in steep terrain. I'd recommend these snowshoes to anyone looking for a suitable pair for tough backcountry use.

Unusable toe crampon
These snowshoes are pretty, much prettier than MSR snowshoes. I like that they pack flat together, and that Atlas even provides a strap for strapping them together and to your pack; I like the traction along both sides, and the heel cleat especially . . . unfortunately, the toe crampon is just silly. The two front teeth are almost horizontal! The only way to have them make contact with the snow beneath your feet is to practically stand on your toes, which is definitely not the way I snowshoe. Since there's no instep cleat, and the toe crampon doesn't touch the snow, climbing uphill is much harder than it has to be. I gave these a few stars for style, but they're really not for backcountry use.

Light and sturdy
I love how lightweight and well-made these are. The straps are a bit unwieldy...I wish either the toe or heel straps could remain fastened between uses.

Goodbye Tubbs...Hello Atlas!!
Traded in the old Tubbs for these because 1) they were old and 2) because I have been doing a lot more back country up in the Adirondack High Peaks and the Tubbs were not really designed for that. The Aspects are amazing in comparison and I'm kicking myself for not upgrading sooner!

Sehr angenehmer Schneeschuh
