Great pedal, but read this first before you program it as the manual stinks
So this update is part review and part public service announcement on this pedal AND the crappy way TC Electronic explains that things about certain features of this pedal.First:I will give you the skinny on how I arrived at getting this pedal to allow me to edit all nine presets. We'll start with yesterday morning when I spent over an hour fine tuning all nine presets to what I need/can use/just want for a mind freak of my bandmates/audience. So I spend this time editing and saving only to find that preset number 1 has a random delay time that is nowwhere near what I had saved so I edit the delay time to what I had originally saved and play for about 20 minutes. I then go to preset two and it is what I had saved so I think all is well. Then I go to preset number three and it is the same thing:It has a delay time that is nowhere near what I had saved for that preset. I decide to step away from it and watch a movie with my wife to sort of mentally chill out as by this time I am about to set my thoughts on fire.So after a couple of movies, I look back at the manual when on the LAST page I finally see it. The delay times on presets 1,3,5,&7 are preset from the factory to operate on a GLOBAL tap tempo setting. What this means is that whatever delay time you set for any of the four, the other three will share that delay time. So now I am both relieved and mad at the same time. Relieved that the unit isn't broke, but mad at the same time because I now know that presets 2,4,6,8,&9 are there to stay, upset that I can't fully edit all 9 presets and having 9 fully custom delays are what I got this pedal for, along with the quality that TC Electronic is known for. Now on to my SECOND public service review warning everyone of this.SO after a few hours playing guitar, loving the sounds of the presets that I AM able to edit, and learning to live with the fact that almost half of my presets aren't fully customizeable. So a few hours later while joining my wife again for a couple of movies, I decide to look at the manual yet again. Keep in mind that I have already read this thing twice. That;s when it hits me on the next to last page there in black and white, but almost put in like an afterthought. On the tap tempo instructions it show you how to get rid of the global delay time so that you can use the preset by itself..THIS IS ALL CAPS TO GET YOUR ATTENTION. IT IS NOT TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE I AM YELLING AT ANYONE. PLEASE READ THIS AND MAKE SURE TO FILE IT AWAY IF YOU GET THIS PEDAL AS THIS IS THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO GET RID OF THE GLOBAL SETTING THAT PROHIBITS YOU FROM HAVING A SEPERATE DELAY TIME ON FOUR OF THE NINE PRESETS:First if you look at the pedal you will see that you have five buttons located under the display that shows your delay time, They are marked MANUAL, PRESET, MOD TYPE,,TYPE, AND SUBDIV. If you want to get rid of the global setting on the odd numbered presets (1,3,5,7) you will have to go to EACH of them and do this. First hit the preset button and go to each preset. make sure the preset button is still illuminated, then hold down the TYPE button that is located right under the list of delay types. While doing this watch for the preset button to flash. It will not flash on,off,on,off quickly, but will stay illuminated and give a quick off flash so pay attention. Once you do this you can edit your delay time and other parameters without the fear of it changing when you edit another preset. one more note: YOU WILL HAVE TO DO THIS WITH THE OTHER PRESETS AS WELL BECAUSE THE FIRST THING YOU WILL NOTICE IS THAT THEY WILL SHARE THE SAME DELAY TIME UNTIL YOU REPEAT THE ABOVE PROCEDURE.So now you know the rest of the story. You can actually edit all nine presets. They sound terrific. The quality is everything you would come to expect from TC Electronic. The manual, however, leaves much to be desired in terms of disclaiming certain things that will make you frustrated and leave you wondering why TC didn't either just make everything in preset mode which would have made the most sense, or at the front of the manual when they are still trying to sell you a pedal that you have already bought write a disclaimer like the following: For reason unknown we decided to program four of the nine presets in a global manner meaning that whatever delay type you input and save for one will be saved to the other three. This feature is defeatable and here are the instructions to defeat this feature so that you can fully edit and customize all nine presets.Doing this would probably save them some hate mail, bad reviews that state the end user received a faulty unit, and cut down on warranty claims. When programming this unit during manufacture, it would take just as long to make four of the nine presets share a global delay as it would to NOT program it in.So thre you have it: It's is an awesome sounding pedal that will probably give you more delays than you will ever use. The sounds are great and the amount of delay time (up to 2290 milliseconds) is ludicrous. Stereo ability, delay ducking so that your playing will sit out front and the tails will start when you stop is great. But the way TC went about showing you how to defeat shared delay times leaves MUCH to be desired

TC Electronics makes great delay pedals
Previously I had a "Flashback X4" by Tc Electronics which I bought at guitar center, but I had always had my eyes on this one. When I realized that this item was offered here at Amazon, I returned the other pedal (which costed even more) got my money back and purchased this one. It sounds great... One of the best delay pedals that I've ever played. It has some many options within this small pedal.

Crystal clear digital delay
This is one of the most pristine delays I've ever used. For getting those perfect, crystal-clear repeats this thing is the one. theres also a few other options like the analog (which is really good) and other modes that degrade the repeats. It's easy to use basically, but if you spend a bit of time with it you can really craft a particular sound. I was never that patient, and I ultimately sold this in favour of a Strymon El Capistan just because I'm not the kind of player who wants something a bit more chaotic. Not the Nova's fault, just my preference.

The sounds coming from this pedal are fantastic, the LED display is very useful to dial in tempo and the size fits just right for my pedal board. The amount of options of subdivisions in repeats makes it more versatile than most other delays I have tried. However switching between presets can be confusing and tweaking the settings on the fly can be a hassle too. For studio work I love the variety of delay sounds this pedal offers but for live performance it just doesn't seem practical if you like to do a lot of experimenting on the fly.

good sound, low quality
I ordered two of these units and both had defective switches. To their credit, Amazon replaced them with zero hassle. Excellent sound and features. I especially liked being able to set the delay tempo by playing rather than tapping my foot. But those quality control issues ...! I wound up paying a lot more to get an Eventide Timefactor, which is worth every cent.

Highly adjustable ... but sterile
This delay comes with lots of bells and whistles, but to my ears, the dial for "digital-analog-echo" is too sterile-sounding even on echo. This is truly a digital pedal and sounds like it ... don't kid yourself. Actually prefer their Flashback delay ... sounds better and offers lots of variety too, along with a smaller footprint.
