Split Mungs aPace
These split mung beans cook faster than whole mung beans and, unlike most split mung beans, still contain the outer shell (more nutrition). While typical protein pairing is beans + rice or grains, the missing amino acid (methionine) is also found in other foods that complement mung beans, as in this recipe:Split Mungs aPaceRinse 1 1/2 cups split mung beans in a medium saucepan, then cover with 1" warm water and soak one hour.Pour off water, add enough water to cover 1/4", bring to a soft boil, then simmer to al dente texture (about 10 min.).Stir in large, pre-heated (3 min. in microwave) diced sweet onion, 1/2 tsp salt,1 tsp each cumin, garlic granules, and paprika, then 1 tbsp dried cilantro. Then stir in 16oz jar Pace Chunky Mild Salsa and heat to a simmer. For a gourmet Mung-stir Meal, serve with 8oz pkg shredded Cheddar Jack cheese, mixed with 1 tsp turmeric extract powder, 1 tsp garlic granules, 1 tbsp dried parsley.Add extra water for more sauce.Postscript: These split mung beans seem diabetes friendly!after a bedtime fast and suggested serving (1/4 cup dry beans).

This is not good dal
I am an experienced cook of Indian dishes, and have been making split moong dal for decades. This is the first time I bought this particular branded it will be the last. I don't know whether perhaps the dal was old or what, but after I boiled it for over an hour it didn't completely break down and after finishing cooking and spicing the dal, it was almost tasteless. I almost threw the entire pot of dal away.My advice is that you look for another organic brand, and do not purchase this brand; I will never buy it again.
