Soldiers of Fortune: A Miss Fortune Mystery, Book 6

Book 6 in the series is as much fun as books 1 through 5, but finally Fortune, Gertie, and Ida Belle managed to pull one over on Carter. Of course that may only be because he is still recuperating and not actually officially working... I have to admit I laugh out loud while reading this series, and race to the end in record time to find out what is going to happen. Now I am stuck waiting until summer for the next book to be written and released.If you have never read any of the books in the series, stop right after reading this review and take care of that. This is a series, and while each book concludes the antics and excitement happening, the next book continues right where we left off. If you don't read them all and in order, you are going to be scratching your head and wondering what they are talking about.Most of the laughs in the current book are built on past escapades by the Swamp Team 3. So do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Louisiana Longshot (A Miss Fortune Mystery, Book 1) -free for kindle-and join in the fun. Unless you are a total sourpuss (and we know you aren't since you are reading this) you will be glad you did. Heck, these books are great to re-read while waiting for the next one to be released!

So, I have been binge reading this series starting at number 3. I really love the catastrophes surrounding the Swamp Team and then crazy adventures they get into. If you enjoy a little Sue Grafton mixed in with I love Lucy( (Lucy and Ethel mishaps) you will enjoy reading about Fortune and her escapades. I actually chuckle out loud through half of the book imagining the scenes in my head. The major downfall for me at this point is that the relationship with Carter hasn't made any progress and I think it would be cool, and that is because she has to keep lying about her reason for being in Sinful and who she is. I am not a big fan of that as it has gone on for several books..Many books make progress in the romance stage and still can have the heroine come clean about her situation. He would be a funny addition to Swamp Team 3 as the stickler. Also, the books are not exactly full length novels and tho the 5.99 price tag is a small cut from a more expensive 7.99, I have read other books that have more substance and depth for 4.99 and less. I am going to have to stop at this point and aim towards buying the rest of the books secondhand someday for a couple of dollars, or looking for a price deal somewhere...I have spent a lot of money and feel like I haven't moved forward much. Just FYI, if you read several books, you are only progressing a few weeks in Fortunes daily life ( the next book picks up almost the next day) and that has been good..and bad..but if that price point is ok for you, then enjoy!! It is a fun ride.

CIA Operative Fortune Redding is back in another fun-filled, hilarious adventure. Fortune is still in Sinful, Louisiana hiding out from Ahmad, a very bad man who wants her dead. When the vindictive new mayor (whose election is being contested) fires the sheriff and appoints her lazy, good-for-nothing cousin to the position, the townspeople of Sinful know they’re in trouble. Things go from bad to worse when an explosion rips through the air. At first, no one is too concerned because they’re convinced it’s nothing more than a swamp still exploding. However, when Fortune and her friends learn it was a meth lab that blew, they get very worried. Someone’s cooking drugs in Sinful and they want to know who’s involved. With Carter (a Sinful deputy and Fortune’s beau) still on medical leave, and the new sheriff sitting back with his feet up, Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie once again team up to find the people responsible for the explosion before the drugs hit the streets of Sinful.What an enjoyable read! Soldiers of Fortune is a laugh-out-loud story that keeps the reader entertained from beginning to end. Author Jana Deleon has developed a wonderfully wacky group of characters. Fortune has grown since the first book. She has gone from being a loner to caring deeply for her new friends. She is developing a relationship with Carter that both scares and excites her. It bothers her that she has to lie to him about who she really is, and she worries that things will change when he finds out. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that things work out for them.I’m not sure I’d want to move to Sinful permanently, but I sure do love my visits there. LOL I can’t wait to see what’s in store next for Fortune and the gang. I do recommend this series. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Happy reading!

This time around our favorite trio- Fortune, Ida Belle, & Gertie - become involved in tracking down those responsible for setting up a meth lab in Sinful. And if you've read any of the previous books, whenever these three get together there is action, excitement, & laugh out loud moments! The only thing wrong with this book is that it ended too soon & now I have to wait until June for the next installment!

Fortune Redding and her geriatric friends can’t have a moment’s rest with all that goes on in Sinful, Louisiana. With Deputy Carter LeBlanc under doctor’s orders to take it easy, and the town deputy ill-equipped to handle anything stressful, it’s up to the Swamp Team 3 to investigate when an explosion rocks the town. Especially since the remains tossed about indicate the presence of a meth lab. With some unexpected assistance from the mob, Fortune, Ida Mae, and Gertie start digging. And as always, the journey is full of action and laughs.

Cute book! I'm an Evanovich fan that is getting frustrated with the series going so long and seeming to have really similar "adventures", so I decided to search out other authors that might provide some mischief and shenanigans in a new direction. Cute stories. Not one that I gasp (in frustration) at the end of one book and start desperately searching for the next one in need of following the plot that seems to always end at the same unsatisfied place...with Deleon, each story has a nice amount of closure for the reader and leaves just enough to leave you satisfied with that individual book, but feeling teased that maybe you just need to catch the next book because you're enjoying the tales, and you're excited to be song for the ride.

Things are starting to get really interesting in Sinful, Louisiana. Fortune Redding a C I A assassin has been hiding out from a murdering drug dealer for the last month. Her cover is that of a librarian closing up her deceased aunts estate, on moving in she meets her aunts best friends Ida Belle and Gertie who recognise Fortune's skill set as they were spy's during the Vietnam war. They have seen it as their lives mission to protect the people and the town of Sinful from any nefarious goings on and think nothing of getting involved in the Sherrifs investigations but they normally just run to crimes like running moonshine and poaching. Fortunes arrival in town coincides with a lot of strange goings on, murders ( some over five years old some recent ) smuggling and drug dealing being just a few of the troubling problems to surface in the town, Ida Belle and Gertie are determined to get to the bottom of what's happening and find the people responsible with Fortunes help, and Fortune feels obligated to help them, at first, then as she gets to know and like them goes along to ensure their safety, after all they are senior citizens who really should be doing nothing more strenuous than knitting. Not these two, they get in more trouble in a day than Fortune has in her entire life even in her job she never had to lie so much. Oh and the town's deputy just happens to be wise to what the women are doing, he also has a soft spot for Fortune one which is returned, even though she knows that her bosses may pull her out at a moment notice if her cover gets blown. This sounds so ridiculous as a plot for a series of book but let me tell you, they work, on every level. They are funny, exciting, there's a mystery to solve and a hint of romance, I laugh out loud reading of the antics the Sinful Ladies get up to and am reading them all in one go. Thats how good they are, try the sample you won't be disappointed.

Oh how i love Jana's books, i have every one of them and this book in the series does not disappoint (other than i wish the stories would never end) I just love the characters in Jana's books, whether it be the Miss Fortune books or the Ghost in law books, the characters are so believable and you just wish that you could have these people in your lives and be one of the gang, I will never get old of reading what Ida Belle and Gertie are getting up to now in this series, I sit with the biggest grin on my face when reading the books and laugh out loud. A great author for making you escape the world and jump into theirs.

Another great story in this series from one of my favourite authors. Gripping escapades and high jinx, so many scrapes and escapes and so funny I end up crying with laughter. Then there is the scary bits that get you thinking 'what next' and the on going 'will Carter find out her secret'. The 3 women in the series make Charlies Angels look like empty air heads; Gertie, Ida and Fortune are tough, resourceful and hilarious. Readers should really take a look at this series it is brilliant and I can't wait for the next in the series.Well done and thank you Jana for writing such amazing stories with everything I want in a book..

Love these books the stories are great have never worked one out yet. Have been told of by hubby for laughing out loud at some of the main characters antics . Great read
