Great awning for overlanding, camping and tailgating.
Ok so I have to say I am quite impressed by this awning. I was a little weary due to the cheap price. The quality of the tarp is great! I have used it in wind and rain with no issues. It was a quick and easy install and mounted right to the side of my cargo basket. The only issue I have with it is the twist locks on the legs. No matter how much I twist them they never seem to lock. This may be operator error but either way it will not be an issue as it will surely be an easy fix. All in all I would highly recommend this awning and would definitely purchase one again in the future! Great customer service. Contacted quickly and was quick to offer help with the leg locks.

Worked well for shade, broke during first rainy camping night
I really wanted to love this awning. I was a huge fan when it first arrived. It installed so easily and it was simple to set up. We got about 4 good uses out of it on our camping trips and was super useful in sunny weather. It didn't last a year though. One of the main reason we got it was to have a place to hide under when it rained. We got caught in a rain storm one-night camping in Virginia and one of the poles snapped in two. It's reasonably priced compared to other retractable awnings. I just wish it was more durable!UPDATE: got in touch with customer service and they responded immediately. Sending a replacement because I’m under the one year warranty. Excellent customer care. Highly recommend.

A nice addition to the "adventure" car with a few flaws
I like this product and I think it is being sold at a fair price for what you get.The amount to which it extends and covers ground is amazing. Bigger than expected (even though the dimensions are clear). It is pretty simple to use once installed. I had a bit trouble getting it to roll up exactly how it came out of the box but it still fit nicely into it's cover so I am fine with that. I still have to test it out under full "adventure conditions, but when I do I will amend this review if necessary. It does seem a bit flimsy in regards to the poles but I believe it will hold up for most uses. I'll hold judgement to more windy adventures. I know it comes with a warning on windy conditions. With that being said, where this thing looses a bit of it's charm, is the install: I understand it is tough to make one-size-fits-all solutions, but the included hardware is very basic and with certainty you will have to get extra hardware to make this fit well for your car. I had hoped to use some of the alternative solutions to install it on my car, which has pretty big cross-beams, but not even all the hardware illustrated in the options comes with this set. That was disappointing. No extra cross beam metal pieces to strap it across your carrier beam. No T-Bolts of any kind.I eventually got something off of amazon, but it cost me another nice extra penny that adds to the overall price of this thing.Once installed it feels way more sturdy than I expected. That's definitely a plus. I have to drive with this thing on for hundreds of miles most likely, so it better stay in place. Again, we'll see how it fairs when the rubber meets the road, but so far so good.

Excellent shelter for van camping, excellent customer service
Pretty simple to install, very simple to open at the campsite. We are a couple of retirees and can have this set up fully in 5-10 minutes including staking out guy lines. I would definitely recommend two people for setting up and rolling up.Provides plenty of shelter for cooking & eating. We purchased the sidewalls to go with the awning which create a private area if the situation calls for it. We've used the awning on several trips now and it kept us dry.We had a torrential downpour (3" overnight) in Wisconsin last fall and water pooled on the tarp bending one of the extension poles but the system held up! If we ever expect that much rain in the future we will add a vertical support pole in the center. We contacted Danchel about the bent pole and they had a replacement shipped to us. Super easy to work with!

Great upgrade to any rig.
This is the third rig that I have installed the Danchel awning on. The first one impressed me so I put one on my Palomino slide in truck camper. It survived a pretty strong pop up storm in southern Kentucky a few years back so when I set up my current rig I bought the biggest one Danchel makes (as far as I know). Its a 9 1/2 X 9 1/2 with four walls. We are heading out next week and expect nothing but the best out of this awning. We scaled the camper back to a roof top tent for better MPGs and so we could do a little overlanding.
