I was looking to buy this, but actually borrowed this from my neighbor.I ran it for 4 1/2 hours.I did about 1700 lineal feet of beds at my house with it It will bog down in wet clay top soil, but in semi dry dirt it flys.It is on the heavy side but an extremely well engineered machine Look at the reviews on it on You Tube.Nice piece of equipment

Works well in the right soil conditions, handle can loosen over time
I’ve owned this bed redefiner for about 5 years - bought it from the local dealer. Amazon didn’t stock it at that time. It’s cheaper on Amazon right now than when I bought it locally. The tool works fairly well for “redefining” beds in the proper conditions. In my experience, they soil has to be dry to very dry for this tool to work properly. If the soil is wet, the wet dirt clumps around the head, the head rpm drops off dramatically and the tool is functionally useless. It will also sling wet clods of dirt everywhere (see the photo of the wet dirt spray on my back up generator). When the soil is dry, this tool works really well for a “redefine” of a previously shovel cut bed edge. You can cut fresh ground with this tool but it takes time and it’s a lot of work. Check out the photo of the fresh bed edge this tool can product in dry conditions. It’s not as good an edge as a fresh shovel cut but it’s a lot less work in dry dirt and it’s a lot faster than a shovel. After a few years, the handle worked loose. It’s sort of a defective design because it has the metal nuts integrated into the plastic bottom attachment plate on the handle where they can pull out of the plastic and the handle loosens up . You need to have the handle in the right place because this tool is borderline heavy and when it’s off balance, it’s heavier. I removed the 4 nuts from the plastic handle, put on washers under the nuts and attached them from the outside of the bottom handle plate - problem solved (see photo).Overall, if you’re a fanatic about clean bed edges like I am, this tool is a good investment as long as you understand when to use it - in dry soil. I’ve seen multiple pro landscapers in my area using this tool and those guys don’t screw around with ineffective tools.Even in dry soil however, count on getting your legs dirty - this unit throws dirt aggressively behind the cutting head even with the “mud flap” attached. Hope that helps!
