A neighborhood store has recently been offering mature coconuts for $1, so I’ve been keeping coconut in the house. Earlier this week, I managed to injure both hands while cracking and prying the flesh off of a mature coconut. So I broke down and bought some proper coconut tools. In reality, this tool seems ever so slightly less effective than the butter knife I had been using at getting between the flesh and the shell. The butter knife often leaves the brown outer skin intact, and this tool didn’t. However, where this tool shines (other than safety) is that it’s able to separate the coconut flesh from the shell in one piece without splintering it. It takes some work, but it will completely separate the flesh from the shell in one piece. And safety is a perk, too. I managed to slice myself with a butter knife earlier this week while trying to process a coconut (almost like a black and white “doing it wrong” scene from an infomercial, I suppose). This coconut knife is completely dull except for the tip, and even the tip is pretty dull. You probably won’t be able to hurt your hands using this knife. I’m not as impressed with this knife as I was with the opener tool I bought (which blew my mind at how well it worked), but it definitely does the job and does it well.

This helps alot to remove coconut, but it is still alot of work. Wondering if the knife was sharp if it would help

You're better off using a chisel. More flexible than it should be.

The guys at the store will only crack the coconut for you so I am glad to have this to get the shell off

Initially we were a bit skeptical if this product would be able to separate the Coconut Flesh from its shell once the coconut is broken into two halves. But this product worked like wonder & made the job look like child’s play. Highly recommended product for those who use coconuts often.
